As for the guy above that asked why the pedals if it has a motor.  Cause you need to pedal to start the motor, and on very steep hills you may need to pedal to assist the motor.

I don't blame some of you guys for criticizing the whole idea...  I got into the whole thing by accident (sorta) then found out how much fun it is and got the bug.  And cruising past a cop, on a motorized bike, with no helmet, no license, no insurance is kind of a hoot  :neener:

 Erkel,

 What type and make of  motor are you using,also whats the drive system use? just a simple centrifical clutch?
 Been interested in an electric assist version but the gas motor would suit me just fine.

I used to have one of them, SOLEX was very popular in France from  the 60s and on ... then I graduated to a moped.


On there's pic there's no mistake that it's a bicycle w/an lil engine, not a moped like someone commented.

The motors come out of China.  Just search ebay for motorized bicycles and lots of motor kit sellers will appear.  The motors have a built in clutch, much like a regular motorcycle engine.  The engine kits are CHEAP ($150) and contain everything you need to turn a standard V frame bicycle into a motorized bike in just 3 to 4 hours.

The electric assisted bikes are fine, it all depends on your style.  I like to tinker and the gas engine bikes make for good tinkering, plus you can go well more than 20 miles before you need to put the bike on a charger for half the day.

I seen a guy on the internet who made a pulse jet powered bicycle, he's inspired me to make my own, as I have some experience in sheetmetal the jet is easy thing. Getting compact light weight ancilliary equipment required to run it is much more difficult. I will post pics when it starts to look like something.

I think the guy with the pulse jet bike said it will go upwards of 50mph.  Only thing I could think was :huh.
