Fire All Guns (Unselected and Selected) Option
« on: January 21, 2010, 11:00:39 PM »
I would like proposing an option to Fire All Guns (Unselected and Selected).

I've missed downing a few planes when only two of my 50 cals fired when pulling out of a dive bomb run.

Switch your secondary back to guns, that's not hard.

I have a button for select secondary on my stick.  press bomb press cannon :).  I also have another button to fire secondary weapons only nice for il2's or deacking when cannons work better than bb's.

I think he knows he can switch, he just forgets to switch from ord to guns and wants it to be easier.  I think that option will come along with the update that allows you to control your bullets with your mind and preform the Vader choke hold on enemy pilots.

Too close for missiles, I'm switching to guns.

Oh and I also have it secondary weapon programed on my stick and make it a habit of switching to guns immediately after dropping ord.  I programed my stick to fire all guns with the trigger, primary guns with a button, and secondary weapons with another button.

2 Stage Main trigger, Pinky Trigger, and the one under the deploy switch you mentioned.  I would guess that's where 4 comes from.  Only used the X-52 a few times (and I despised it), but I think that's what they are. :)

+1 should be default behaviour :aok

If you have your trigger set to fire all guns, all guns should fire regardless of which station you have selected. eg. in a jug you have centre pylon selected with a bomb, B drops the bomb, but currently only 4 .50s fire when you press F. thats not how it worked IRL.

edit: in fact the only option on jugs was to fire all 6 or 8 guns, unlike eg. hogs where you could select each pair individually.

Switching back to guns is entirely the problem. When your blacking out from pulling out of a dive, selecting a secondary weapon is not so easy. I like to bring eggs and rockets to a field unlike furballers (with no guts, HEHEHE). When I pull my trigger button I would prefer that all my forward firing guns to come alive (selected and unselected).

They will, if you hit the other button that switches your secondary weapon back to guns first.

AHHHH.... Never really thought about Pinky like that, cool....  :salute

Here's the thing............  I don't want to sound like a jerk but.........  Your SA, oh sorry, situational awareness is not good, and that's the problem.  I don't need to look at my instruments to know #1 what tank I am burning fuel from, #2 what my secondary weapon choice is, and #3, but little do with this topic, what heading I am generally flying.

#1, #2........  Fighter-wise, I fly the Mossie, 109s, 190s, Spits, and Jugs. Some have more options then others but regardless, I have a set group of preflight checks that I do..... Mossie as an example.... Switch to LO fuel tank and keep cannons enabled but scroll through to check my loadout.  From here, I know full well the order of the fuel burns and that my internal bombs get selected before the wing load.  Hence, I backspace twice when getting ready to drop ord.

I never need to look to see what I have selected.

But what you seem to really be wishing for is something that goes against RL physics and ingame physics.  If you have your rockets in an armed position, you cannot fire those guns.  PERIOD, end of story.

I hear you can do magic like that in World of Warcraft though, you should check it out.   :aok

LOL...gonna poke you with a stick.  :neener:

In RL WWII fighters... bombs, rockets, drop tanks were all put on separate mechanisms...not on the secondary trigger of the stick.

Quote from a P-40 pilot's manual:
Quote
"The plane is equipped to carry one bomb under each wing, plus one bomb in the belly tank position. To arm the bombs put the bomb arming handle on the floor below the throttle quadrant in the ARM position. To release the bombs there are manual release handles on the left side of the cockpit."

P-47 bomb release:
