To the OP , Football was great for pent up frustration .  You could go out and beat the crap out of others (and yourself) without getting in trouble.  Even most practices were full contact so it was great.

It's great to see that a younger player is trying to figure this part of the community out.   :salute

What I can't stand is all the people that take so much enjoyment of belittling a younger player when they make a mistake. 

IMO they will learn by example, not by humiliation.
