See there I disagree.  I do not think any less of the game of Golf due to this horn dog's actions, and therefore am with Masher in the completely apathetic camp.  Move on and let people try to focus on slightly more important issues, society.

Like what..... playing golf. Those are important issues not only for his family but his sponsers and friends. My bet is that his reputation never will again be what it was no matter how many years pass. There are many people who don't know the difference between a driver and a putter but still know who Tiger is. Those are the people that now will assoiciate him with infadelity evertime his name is mentioned.

I could give a rats behind what he does to himself, but I do care about the people whos lives it has effective for life. Ask any man or women whao have been cheated on and all will say that they never again will be able to trust that person as they once did no matter how clean they stay.

I don't disagree.  I'm sure his reputation will be hurt.  I'm sure lots of people don't know squat about golf but know all about his shenanigans.  I've been cheated on, and although it was a girlfriend not a spouse it still sucked immensely. What I'm saying is that this ultimately does not change the game of golf (other than knocking out a good player for a while) in the long run.  Therefore, it really just is not important.

He banged broads, who cares.

Exactly.  I found it rather silly and stupid that he even had to do a press conference for something that is strictly a private matter for him and his family.  Even more idiotic is how the major news networks are treating the press conference.

Why does the public and media feel that they are entitled to butt their noses in someone else's private business?

The only real thing Tiger is guilty of is bad taste by banging chicks that, compared to his wife, are rather ugly and plain.

The media is only giving the public what it wants.  People want gossip.  People want to know others are more miserable than they are.  The media is just capitulating to the demands of the public.

It maybe Tiger's personal business but taking sponsors money for a persona that doesn't exist is where his personal  business ends and public business starts. Sponsors are banking on  his persona as well as his golfing ability. He has always portrayed himself as a family man and an honest man . He has created an image that sells products and when that image is other then what it was hired for and counted on then it becomes the business of anyone who has stupidly purchased a product because of his endorsement . The fact is that he was hired to endorse products because people thought he was the perfect American, a winner on the course and in life. He has only held up to half of his image.

I really don't care what Tiger's problems are but what I do care about is when someone tells me he something he isn't. I think people are just tired of being lied to and this is just another story about something that was too good to be true.

I agree Skuzzy the media is after the biggest story.  And here you got the first billionaire athlete committing adultery, biggest story of the last century.  Hard to fault the media that's what they get paid to do.

I disagree.  The media is after the EASIEST story.  I have a lot of contact with newspaper editors, I can tell you that what I see is editors trying to put word on the page as cheaply and easily as they can.  Some of the editors I have dealt with our some of the most intellectually lazy people I have ever met.

I don't deal with TV media, but I have no reason to believe that they are much different these days.

i am always amazed that people will buy a product because some celebrity said to buy it. The celebrities are paid lots of money for their endorsements and when you buy that product you pay for that endorsement.

I just watched it, I think it was a bad idea on his part, he just seemed so fake the whole time he was reading his apology, like an emotionless robot.

Did you guys noticed that his mother almost never looked at him the whole time, she just kept staring off into the distance.

Tiger does not owe me an apology and in my humble opinion probably most of America. He owes his family more.

I disagree Tiger is a Icon very much like a super hero in a movie.  Kids look up to him and do as he does, when they grow up they want to be like him.  He's let million's of fans down all across the world, he is not just a person when you live the life he does.  He must hold himself to a higher standard and completely and uderly owes every fan an apology for his actions, along with his sponsors and everyone who supported him.  His biggest apology is to Erin which he brokes his vows to.  He is the biggest known World-Wide athlete that has ever lived.  When he beats Jacks record it will stand for a very very long time.  Golf is one of the oldest and respected sport in exsistence and over the last centry you have only 4 players with over 10 majors Jack Nicholas, Tiger Woods, Amateur Bobby Jones, and Walter Hagen.  Anyways I've got alot more to say but I'm going to  :airplane: alittle before bed  :aok

Professional sports don't interest me at all, golf is even less interesting.

It is so boring, I'd rather watch marathon re-runs of Spongebob Squarepants with my 6 year old than watch golf for more than a few minutes.

I'm not sure what is worse, the fact people pay anyone to hit a small white ball around or the fact they idolize someone that does.

It is a business.  If they do not sell, they are out of business.  Ratings for news shows are at their highest when they have some meaty gossip and personal tragedy to showcase.  If it did not sell, they would not do it.

There are reasons why publications like the "National Enquirer" do better than any other printed news rag today.  It is what people want.  People vote on it everyday, with their remotes and at news stands.

We get what we have collectively asked for.
