Yeah we shouldn't have any problem with the Swiss team, I think the only reason it was even close in there first game against each other was the U.S team hadn't even practiced together yet.

Oh this match is a big one! Here in Montreal people are leaving work early today to prep the beer and nachos.

No matter the outcome, the first game (USA vs Canada) was excellent - the pace was just unmatched, Miller was the hero of the day. Today's game is looking to be just as good, or even better.

Go Canada!!!

Big props to Swiss in the tourney, they were total underdogs but they gave Canada a run for the money once and the United States now twice. I am interested to see the outcome of Canada vs Russia, which are ranked #1 and 2 in the world coming into the olympics, as well as Sweden vs Slovakia. Sweden did win Pool C, but they were not very strong in the preliminaries, beating Belarus and Germany by small scores. Slovakia could stage an upset over Sweden if they play there cards right. Also, after Czech's near loss to Latvia, I expect to see them win over Finland, as I think it was a wake-up call for them.

Predictions:

Gold Medal Round - United States vs Russia
Bronze Medal Round - Slovakia vs Czech

Gold - United States
Silver - Russian Federation
Bronze - Czech Republic

United States returns to the gold medal stand 30 years after winning in Lake Placid. There heart and determination can't be matched by any other team in the tournament.

Quarterfinals:
Canada is beat by Russia 5-4 in OT
Sweden is beat by Slovakia 3-2 in OT.
Finland loses to Czech 4-2

Semifinals:
United States defeats Czech Rep. 3-1
Russia defeats Slovakia 6-3 (they (Slovakia) won in overtime over Russia in the preliminaries, but with the gold medal round on the horizon, Russia will be balls to the wall)

Gold Medal Round:
United States 3
Russian Federation 2

Bronze Medal Round:
Czech Rep. 3
Slovakia 1

(as you can tell I have a lot of faith in slovakia beating sweden :))

Yeah I was surprised by how well the Swiss played in the Olympics so far, they've come real close to beating some of the best teams there.

As for the Canada Vs. Russia game tonight I'm thinking it will be Canada that wins.

Well so far looks like I might be right about Canada beating Russia, Canada's just lighting the Russians up, 3-0 in the first with the last 2 goals scored just 46 sec apart.

Well the Russians are coming to life, 3-1 now.

Yeah I think the Russians have just about that many too, it's a crazy game.

I thought that Canada would win, but I thought that the Russians would have at least kept it a close game, but Canada is just blowing them away, and it's only the end of the 1st.  Maybe the loss to the U.S just really got a fire going under the Canadians.

Man what happen to the Russian team, they're getting beat on like they were a team from some unknown country, 6-1 now.  I can't believe they haven't pulled their goalie.

And now another score, but now by the Russians, 6-2.  I've never seen a Hockey game have this high a score this early in the game.

Well Canada won 7-3, so looks like in all likelihood we'll be facing them in the Gold medal round, a rematch of Sunday nights game, so if we can beat them and take gold it will definitely show that it wasn't a fluke that we beat them in the first game.

Also did anyone catch that woman's speed skating relay race, I just saw the last few minutes but Korea ended up getting a DQ after having won the gold because they slightly bumped into the racer from China near the end of the race, that has to suck, thinking you just won gold then finding out you've been disqualified, especially since this would have been the 5th consecutive gold for Korea in this event, but turned out to be a good thing for the U.S as they finished last in 4th, so they moved into 3rd for bronze.

You shoulda seen the puck right above the swiss goal line literally at 0.0 seconds in the second half.
