Proximity Kills
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:22:20 PM »
It might just be me and if so then this is just to get it off my chest.  In the game I have noticed that if you auger, crash, or run into the random tree and anyone is in proximity to you they get credited for the kill.  I have been in the process of taking off from an airfield and have received the message that I shot someone down.  Why am I getting credit for a kill when I'm worried about keeping my plane on the runway.  Now if you have seen my score you would say I would take what ever charity is thrown my way.  WRONG!  It just irks me when I have received no damage  and in some cases not even engaged with another aircraft yet they get credit for shooting me down.  My feeling on the subject is that if you don't put rounds on him then you should not get credit for a kill.  If you kill yourself then you kill yourself.

Perplexed.

How would you like it if you were about to kill a guy, so he bails instead and you receive no credit.  That's essentially what you are asking for.

If I understand correctly..... they only count as kill and no score. The guy could have been diving on you and failed to pull out or hit something... in which case you could still be why he died.  :D

If I understand correctly..... they only count as kill and no score.

They are regular kills for score purposes, affecting K/D K/H K/S like any other kill. The sole difference for score purpose is they give you just 1 single score point (as scorepoints are defined as damage points inflicted + 1 point for the kill)

The main difference to other kills: You don't get any perks for  proxies.

Above is the precise reason we have proxies.

Agreed.  The other reasoning being, if you are able to really out-fly someone and they stall into a tree or fly into a mountain, you still deserve the kill.  You forced them into a position where they lost control of their aircraft, so you took them out of the fight without need for your guns.

Either that or you just scratched a 3 weeker who recently took off stall limiter.   :rock

I wonder how much the OP would have complained if proxies were renamed 'manuever' kills instead.  Bet he didn't complain about those in WB too much even though they're essentially the same thing just with a different name.
