the FW series, BF-series, Spit series, brewster, I16, P-series, ETC are all planes under consideration. they all have forward facing guns. i might even throw in the A20 without bombing capabilities as a bonus fighter  :)

how many people would be game for this setup?? chime in please!

I'm all for it!

that said, I am now going to step on your toes and proffer this:

Major Nightly Victory (achieve your side's goals & deny the enemy theirs): Firefly (as sub: Panther for Axis, KV-85 for Allied) or 110G/P-38G (as sub for Pe-2 for Allied) or Ju-88s/B-25c (singles) or enable certain aircraft at a specific forward Vbase, any other real prime item.

Minor Nightly Victory (achieve your side's goals): Add an aircraft, 109g2, Hurri1 for Romanians, Brewster for Finns, D3a/Ki-67 for Italians (sub for Br.20/Sm.79),  Hurri2D/I-16(rockets rule!) for VVS, SBD for VVS (as sub for Su & Db series aircraft); or pretty much any other "fun" aircraft that won't drastically alter the play balance.

I did like the 'No Icons below 500 feet' in the last setup, but maybe change it to 'No Icons below 300 feet'?  Differentiate between below DAR & REALLY flying NOE while GV hunting.  I HATED the manual bombing; so if you do allow single BUFFs in, could we please not have manual bombing?

Guess I really am   with all this stuff running around in my head on how to make your setup fun.  :D

Oh Boy! A20 as a sub for one of those German BUFF night-fighters

If the gv'ers worked together and deployed the equipment effectively those aircraft wouldn't be a big deal...I know how I would deploy but ah ain't de genrul.

Hello Jaeger, <S>!

Very good idea, I dare to say. I will likely join in just for the fun of it. Allow me only a couple of suggestions:

- Use EW single engined fighters without cannon and - if at all - small bombs; enable them in a couple of rear fields and one front-line airfield; make them fly and search the armour; make them defend the front-line base.

- Choose carefully a map and consider having no spawn points other than the base hangar themselves; make people ride the armour, prepare an ambush on the advancing forces, choose a less predictable route for a target, promote multi-vehicle column play.

Maybe it would be interesting to focus solely on town destruction and capture, making aircraft hangars indestructable. No point in forcing GV's to destroy aircraft hangars. Also, maybe a better prize for gaining terrain and capturing bases would be reducing the opponents capability for ressuply, fuel (going to 75%, 50% and 25%) and ammo (disabling some loadouts, sequencially) and, in some cases, deny total use of some type of supporting vehicle (simulation of capture of a M8 or Wirble base).

I am looking forward to join a 7 or 8 armoured column and clock a few miles to target. Keep us posted.

Cheers,
Sparow

Why? If it's firing at you, it's probably an enemy...if it's dropping a bomb on you, it's probably an enemy...move and shoot back.

I like the idea of flying dedicated divebombers like the SBD, D3A, and Ju-87 as the main aircraft, with aircraft that lack cannons and have small machineguns as escorts. I'm more interested in the close air support aspect than I am the GVing, as I have terrible eyes on the ground. I-16s, Hurri IIDs, and P-39s as light air to ground and air to air fighters might be a good idea as well.

most people will be in the air than on the ground.  if you really want a tank battle then allow only gv's with some airplanes as scouts.  it would be a nice change to have only gv's battles.

to most of last bunch of posters:

i already said i would limit it to small single engine fighters that could carry 1 bomb
i will leave icons on, they dont work for gv's anyway, only if you're in an airplane can you see icons.

each day there would be objectives to meet. there MIGHT be some bonus vehicles, but thats not a guarantee.

the object is to take the bases assigned to your side IE axis or allied. the side with the most points wins!

the aircraft that are enabled will be dogfighters too. this will encourage some furballing.

Had a blast tonight and a  :salute for the set up.  I loved the Vbase setup, nothing like rolling street to street looking for enemy armor  :x.  I'll be back for more this week.
