There are only four wars in which AH2 should consider.

WW1

Spanish Civil War

WW2

Korea

Why? Because it represents : the beginning, the golden age and the end of the dogfight. One with lawnmowers another with Ferraris and one with Jets.

To successfully simulate modern combat each one of us would have to spend about a year learning each airplane just to end up cruising around and pressing a button when you see a dot on the scope.

I'm always amazed by the ignorance shown by prop plane snobs in these threads.  Even Slammers aren't perfect
and the Sparrows much less so.  Very rarely is simply pushing a button accurately describe modern combat.  Radars
fail, or can't pick up a target due to ground clutter or even simple pilot overload.  They didn't call the AIM-7 Sparrow
"The Great White Hope" in Vietnam for nothing ya know.  It was not unusual for pilots to launch some radar guided
missiles simply to force the target to turn to present a heatseeker shot.

I'm not even a big modern war fan, but would like to see a bit more logic applied in your counter arguments.

Modern assimilates current technology. Current technology permits one to run from a fight while firing missiles at your opponent(s).

Accurately modeling modern avionics is probably a task beyond that of a team and budget the size of HTC's.

When I said "modern" I meant "modern" not vietnam

Well early Korea and Vietnam would work the saber just had 6 50cals and the MiG just had like a 2 23mm and 30mm with allot of rounds.

Korea, yes, Vietnam, no. One of the big issues hampering the US aircraft in early Vietnam was lack of a gun on the F4, as it had missiles only.

I have to say i dont like this idea. I just think that firing missiles at each other just dosent sound fun. But Vietnam fighting would be fun.

Just thought I would throw this out there for debate
I know how HTC is working on WWI but would like to see what people think about having a modern war arena
Personally I think this would be a good idea

You getting bored already needing 10 bomber formations and 40 friends to swarm bases?   Dang, maybe if some of you actually challenged yourselves, you'd be happy with what we have.

Wondering how much LESS fun the hordes would be than they already are if they were all shooting AMRAAM's at me. :)
