Black Squares
« on: March 14, 2010, 02:06:53 PM »
I'm running on a Inspiron 1525 Laptop with Windows 7. Sometimes when i get into the game and then get into a furball or around other planes, they turn to black squares around them and i have to hit windows key then come back into the game for them to go away any suggestions or any help to get this to go away would be appreciated.

Probably an onboard Intel video chip.  Disable the Aero desktop (go back to Windows classic) and set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256 in the games "Video Settings".  Also keep the resolution no higher than 1280x1024.

See if that helps.  If my assumptions are incorrect about the video chip, please post a DXDIAG ouput, or email it to me.

What video card?  A DXDIAG output would be most helpful.

That is two different video cards.  The Intel is onboard.  If you added another video card, you must remove the drivers for the Intel card/chip and disable it or you will have serious resource issues with the computer.

Both of you have computers with Intel video chips in them.  You will need to do the following:

1)  Set the game resolution to 1024x786, no higher.
2)  Set the "Maximum Texture Size" in the games "Video Settings" to 256, no higher.
3)  Make sure the only options checked in the "Options->Graphic Detail->Advanced" panel is "Bump Mapping" and "Detailed Water".

While in the "Options->Graphic Details" panel:

4)  Disable other players skins.
5)  Disable weapons effects.
6)  Move the three sliders more towards performance.

ACE, there is a very good chance your computer will never be able to render anything in real time as it only has 1GB of system RAM.  256MB of that is used by the video card, leaving 768MB of system RAM.  Windows 7 requires a minimum of 1GB of system RAM for itself.  It just has zero resources to do anything.
