I have one, its certainly a new experience if you have never had FFB.

The software is a bit of a pain, I am having to run the older software (5.06 vs 5.08). The newer version would not see the joystick even though its plugged in. Once I got that all settled the FFB came alive and I started to play. The joystick and throttle are pretty comfortable for adult hand sizes, a young kid not so much. Depending on what your looking for the FFB actually makes it harder to fly, especially if you use higher settings. When riding a stall turn the joystick would walk itself across the desk if not being held on to. It will shake you, a lot like the real thing did I would expect, you can turn it down to where there is little to no FFB though. At high speed the joystick gets very stiff too (again settings), overall I think a non-pilot would be impressed with the overall FFB quality.

The rudder pedals are nice, have carpet locks so they never move. Functionality they work great, still getting used to them personally though.

Cons/issues so far....

The joystick will make a low static type noise at some point, move it and sound goes away, no big deal. Software is not up to par with rest of the hardware, hopefully this will change soon. Throttles only show about two-thirds of the definition they should, again software I think. The joystick has a weak spring, makes flying autopilot a little more interesting, I have been told there is a setting for this too though. If you already have rudder pedals, the price is a bit steep unless you really want FFB.

Strong points...

It boils down to one thing, realism. This joystick has three trim pots, two other wheels, more buttons than you could shake a stick at and FFB. The joystick will let you know if anything in the plane just went south. Get a wing taken off and it will really catch your attention, a flak hit will slam the stick in one direction. It wont let you fly better, it wouldn't tell a seasoned vet anything he didn't already know either. It will give the feeling of being attached to your aircraft though, to me this is what I wanted.

I would recommend this to stick to the immersion oriented player, the FFB and rudder pedals (for some) will bring a new challenge.

Most are $299 USD, never found any lower than that either....

Sticker shock perhaps but only 50-75 more than other setups by the time you add rudder pedals.

Been shopping around some today for them, everywhere I have looked have it priced at over $300.  I found it on Buy.com for
$284.99 + a $10 off coupon making it $274.99 with free shipping.

I  fly a MSFFB2.  I like the FFB imersion factor.   ild bet 95% or higher who play the game dont/wont ever fly with it because it take a little more skill when your FFB is kicking you around the sky as you try to line on a shot!   lol heaven forbid trying to fly a damaged bird!(i think its fun).

but since MS stopped making them ill have to fine me a new alternative if this opne ever dies beyond repair!

BUT 300 bucks for that thing......... man oh man!

This looks sweet, but I have an old resentment of logitech sticks. All the previous ones I had were crap and I simply decided not to consider them again. For 300$ I'd be vary careful before buying one and never without testing it first. If you are willing to caugh out such a sum, I guess CH stuff is a safer bet even if it means a few more $$.

No FFB with CH gear....

I will say this, there are very few, if any, places I would consider this to be cheaply made.

Boxboy,
You say 300 bucks like its really high, its not when you add it up and compare what your getting. A X52 will set you back 100 USD, pedals another 125, so for 75 dollars more you get a nicer product with FFB. I have owned a X52 so I can say that with some authority, the G940 just feels more sturdy and does not feel like plastic. The G940 should last much longer due to the better sensors as well I think, I would be cautious comparing this to there lower end units.

Not exactly true....

Finally got around to fixing my old Force FX over the weekend and tried it out in AH to see if the force feedback effects work and sure enough, they worked just fine.

OK
I never liked FFB so for me it is a useless feature that makes the equipment more expensive than it should be. My old microsoft FFB II is an excellent stick (hard to believe I know. They were so good the MS had to stop making them or risk improving their reputation) but the only use of the motors is to adjust the stiffness of the stick.
