Take the 234 NOE!

Jump into the TA and you can quickly see where the aim point is.
at 150 feet and full speed you can plaster a CV sized target every time.

The aim point will vary depending on speed, so stabilizing your speed is still important.
But its a ton more fun to do it that way than to try to line up a target in the bombsight almost a sector out.

Ohhh and if you release VERY  low (below 200) you might want to pull the nose up a smidge after drop to avoid blowing your tail off.

But the 234 rocks NOE especially against fleets.

You have to select the bomb for the site to work right. If your still carrying the Jato packs that is.

You can dogfight with it and kill any plane in the game as well.

I fly the 234 almost exclusively as a bomber.  Set your flight path, get to the alt you want then let it build speed for 3 sectors.  Calibrate one sector from the taget and you're golden (that's four sectors total from the time you level out).  I've always got the throttle firewalled, normally drop at about 415 mph and never miss.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Auto take-off? Never used it, I prefer to get the thing off the ground myself.

The Ar234 makes a splendid glider. I bombed from about 24,000 feet, took a flak hit in the fuel tank and the go-juice ran out a couple of sectors from home, a field out on the coast. No problem, plenty of height in hand - but then the enemy attacked the field mob-handed. Oh dear, there go my perks. No way. That, and a reluctance to give them an easy target made me decide to hold alt as long as possible. I glided out to sea, waited until one of my squad called the all-clear, then glided back again and touched down OK. Reckon I was gliding for at least 15 minutes; wish I'd timed it, but I had survival rather than science on my mind right then.

I usually take off from a base that is far enough so that, with 100% fuel, I can grab about 10k and accelerate to top speed before the target. I drop all in one quick pass. I usually am at 10k for a while before I reach the target, so my speed is normally maxed out when I calibrate. Due to the fact that the eggs are carried externally (causing a lot of drag), dropping one will result in significant speed gain, therefore throwing off your calibration. I suggest you drop them all on close-together targets, such as the hangars on the main pads (or big pads, i forgot what its called). I usually keep my RATOs and fire them after my drop, to make a quick escape. Or, if i am attacked on my way to the target, i dive a bit and fire the RATOs. You DO NOT need them for takeoff, they just make it a lot easier.
If you want to take off quicker, lower the flaps all the way. Hold the brakes and go to full throttle. When the engs are at full, release the brakes and you should accelerate faster, because the engines are already spooled up. When you get up, dont try to climb. Level off at about 100 feet and gain some speed if you can.
Hope this helps.
Also, if anything doesn't make sense, ask a question. I will answer it later. It is 1:21 in the morning and I dozed off while typing this.

2. why cant the bombsight aim the bombs worth a $#!7

calibrates great.  your tas must = your calib airspeed.  accel or decels are no no's.

For most ops you'll only need 75% fuel most likely. With that it's safe to go 2-3 sectors there and back no problem with fuel to spare. Like said don't use the ratos on takeoff you don't need them.

Yeah, use the ratos to exit the dropzone once you drop your bomb(s), like they do in "The Final Battle", they are Gamey that way..... unless they have already been shotdown before hand...... been taking them 2 to 3 trys to down the cv's and seems they are getting worse at it than better... with multiple ar234s with drones...... 3 trys yesterday with 24+ ar234s and they only managed 1 CV down.........

Was it fun flying around doing absolutely nothing but diving on a few cons every hour? :) Musta gotten awful lonely 8+ sectors from any other enemy.

An F4U can catch the 234 from a dive so why weren't we dead? We had a misdrop on two CAs, if they had both hit we would have sank 3 ships. Tyvm have a nice day.
