Its not just on the Internet anymore....(in case you hadn't noticed...)

It never was just the internet.  There are some interesting books out there.  Newspaper articles are "editorialized".  The internet just makes it all easier to disseminate and/or find.

No, but the Internet has brought to the forefront more numpties and nutjobs than a newpaper ever could.  Even television is losing out in its ability to put numpties and nutjobs in front of the viewer as compared to the Internet.

Funny, you guys have a dude on this board who acts like an authority on aviation and I have proven him wrong more than once, yet some still think he knows all about aviation.

On the other hand, we have eagl who is one sharp dude who knows his stuff regarding aviation and certainly has my respect.

Plenty of people have been wrong on this board, but at least here people can be corrected or at least the correct information can be provided for others with a reasonable chance it will be seen.  Try that on youtube.  In addition, getting things that wrong on this board is extremely rare and will immediately result in mocking from some of our less polite membership.

I don't know who in particular you are referring to, but if they are at all accepted here they aren't remotely on the level of the quote I posted.

That's what I said, kind of.  It's always been around.  It's just more around now.

Blogs as news.

Nope, just the new guy bug, gets a few ratings and is an instant expert in all things aviation.

Youtube comments are often FAR more entertaining than the vids they are accompanying. It's amazing how off the off-topic "discussions" can get. And of course, you find the worst stuff when it comes to any kind of history.
That's similar to CH 200 here. Everytime I read "because Hitler..." I know some extremely stupid stuff is coming up  :lol
You have no idea . My 16 yo niece told me the other day "Germany lost the war because Hitler wouldn't listen to his generals ". When I asked her where she heard that . She told me history class . I then explained a little about why he may not have listened to his generals . She then told me the only reason WWII happened was because Hitler was power mad  . I then explained a little about how it was really WWI continued , at least in Europe . Now here is when it gets ugly . In class the next day ,after bringing up a few points and asking questions . Her history teacher told her to " shut up and quit asking questions "  :O :O :O . Monday they discuss the criminality of the Atomic bombings of Japan .Me and my dad gave her a few things to think about in regards to that .  Along with a digital recorder to tape the teachers reaction . I find the whole thing scary and wonderful at the same time . Scary because a student was exposed to over simplifications and  bad data . The unreal order from a teacher to quit asking questions .Wonderful to see the light come on in a bright kids eyes when she began to use something I was taught in school , critical thinking .
