Mid Sortie Dot Commands for Fuel/Weapon Loadouts
« on: April 11, 2010, 03:28:43 AM »
What I am proposing is being able to type in new fuel percentages, gun packages, drop tank, and ordanence while in mid sortie so that when you go to the rearm pad you can have a new plane setup, rather than end your sortie and set it up differently. It seems like an obvious thing to have to me so theres probably some detailing I'm overlooking as to why it doesnt already exist. Nonetheless, its just an idea that I think would be useful. Say for example your in a 109 g14 and u head home to rearm after killing some fighters, but your friend tells you that there are low bombers coming into the base your rearming at. Rather than end sortie and select everything, you can just type a command for the 20mm gondolas. you go to the rearm pad and after 30 seconds, bam, gondolas. :D

also maybe a dot command for E6B to show...i mean cmon, theres a dot command for score but not E6B?

:aok  Sounds cool.  Makes more sense than being able to load ordinance at rearm pad on a field with no ammo bunker.  I will go one further, the more ord you load the longer you have to sit on the pad.  NASCAR fashion, dip in for a sip of fuel and ammo and dash of in 30 seconds.  Load up some heavy ord and wait longer.  It might balance out the benefit vs. vulnerability at a field under attack.

:uhoh One condition, if ord is down at the base, no ord can be loaded.  The same for fuel and troops.

It takes MUCH longer to land, taxi, wait for the rearm and then take off than it does to just tower and select a new load out.

If you are bingo rtb and hear that nme buffs are otw why would you want to wait that extra couple of minutes to taxi and rearm?

If you towered, selected a new load out, and then rolled you could be 5-6k up before the guy rearming could take off.

I don't see the point at all.

i dunno i was just using an example. you can tower out if you want, its not like im saying get rid of that ability. just saying it wouldnt mess up the whole game to have the feature. doesnt mean everyone will like it or has to use it. still think a dot e6b command should exist though

I'm kinda Half and half on this one I think it would be neat especially when fighter hangers are dwn and say your just getting on scene and you need to change your load out mainly fuel.
And I'm sure there are plenty of guys out there who would love this feature, not saying I would use maybe every once ina while but hey it would be nice.

Ya, I'm with you, why?

The only reason you would worry about changing the load out on the rearm pad is a score issue, and we all know score is a waste of time. As for the e6b two clicks of a mouse works a bit better for me than typing a dot command.

Think of it this way.  Pearl harbor is under attack, the majority of your fighters are out of commission (FHs down), a few available planes are returning to base with out the proper ordinance.  These brave pilots make their way to the field and race to get loaded up to offer resistance to the unabated fighters and bombers picking off their targets.

But at Pearl Harbor they didn't game the game by taking off with 25% fuel and light ammo to better turnfight with zekes, while taking bombs but pickling them on the runway so they can get them back when they hotpad....

I wouldn't mind seeing it, but probably only if load-outs did effect reload time.  I'm not concerned about my score, but sometimes I find it fun to keep the same plane as long as I can.  When doing so it may be nice to change load-out if necessary.

If you don't like it, you don't have to use it.

I would say +1 for the sole purpose of getting more perks, who cares about score? Aside from that, I come back to bases all the time that have a smash n' grab mission coming in and the fh's are down, not a lot of good you can do in a fighter filled to the brim. +3/4

my point exactly...sometimes the fight gets closer and you may not want 100% fuel. but if FH's are down ur kind of scrwed

I dont even see a need for a dot E6B command either!

simply open clipboard, select E6B then close clipboard. the next time you open clipboard E6B will open too.

At the start of the sortie open and adjust the clipboard,I set mine to a part of my screen so when open it doesnt obstruct my view completely. That allows a quick look at map for SA and a quick check on status through E6B.

There are actually a couple people who support the idea of changing load-outs when you reload, do a search for it.
