MechWarrior 4 finally released for free

Yeah, guess they didn't have enough confidence in their product to think more than a dozen people might try to download it and to beef up their capacity.  Or perhaps they just don't have a clue.   
I'll keep trying now and again.  I certain won't plan my life around getting it downloaded.

I think the "they didn't have a clue' is probably on target.  Don't think they realized the sheer number of people would be taxing their servers trying to get this game.

To Play this game. click the MekTek.exe then right click on the icon then go to properties then click find target then click on the MW4Mercs. it may crash at 1st but just try agian and it will work. <S>

I installed the game using their installer (mtx)

try and play the game....please insert cd 2 into cd drive...

nevermind, looks like you need the cd until the next patch...waiting for M$ to give the full ok for free distribution.

i downloaded the mektek downloader but i cant find the game to install it ...

Guys They are haveing Problems with so many ppl trying to download it. pugg66 hit up date or right click and check for updates for MW2 there is other patch to fix the no cd2 problem. and rattler just close and restart the program or wait other day till they get the servers fully online

Getting started is easy. Just download and install MTX, MekTek's free content delivery and updating system. Once installed, simply click the Games Available tab, select Mechwarrior4: Mercenaries and click install. Downloading now.   Dumb question Ack, do I need a prior MW game installed to play this?   I still remember playing the 31st Century (?) game on a Pentium 75 PC at my buddy's crib in 95.   God, the hours I enjoyed that game.   If I need to buy recent game, I will.

 no you do not. MW4 is a full and free release. so you do not need any of the other mw's to play it so injoy your self blowing stuff up!

yes. you need the mtx.exe to download / play MW4 you can that at www.mektek.net *still haveing problems* or fileplanet
