I checked out FA forums and saw something about Warbirds never heard about it. Checked it out and looked about there forums. And i have to say there is a a lot of stuff posted about aces high

and the community being a bunch of egotistical petulant children. Why I wonder do they think that? Is there some history I am missing.  While I have seen some aruments and things said about

people I have learned that someone you can dislike one second can be someone you are laughing with the next. My opinion although biased is this community is great.

The only people left at WB are the ones who for one reason or another refuse to switch to AH.
Mac users, pilots who gave AH a half hour try and got their ego's bruised, etc.

They are really upset with AH right now because with FA closing the handwriting is on the wall for them.
They "need" each and every one of those FA pilots to try to keep WB alive.

And they see the majority headed off to AH land.

Because we do have our number of egoistical petulant children here. But tho do they. And then the usual kindergarten squabble kicks in:
"Your sim sucks!" - "No your does"
"Performance of planes is fudged there!" "LOL, wanna tell me your arcade stuff is better?"
Warbirds offer an extended tryout period for FA players. AH Player: "LOL, they are desperate!" AH does a similar thing. WB player: "unfair!", "Agressive propaganda!"  sigh

And so on. People holding personal grudges will join the "other side" and try to start a personal crusade and mix facts with opinions and prejudices and hurt personal feelings. Others may think they have to "defend" their sim and/or comrades no matter what and will join it. And quickly it becomes simply a matter of "US" vs "THEM". Happens on both sides.

That kind of stuff frequently reminds me of The Judean People's Front vs The People's Front of Judea...

I think it's a few things combined...

Yes, there are definitely "rough edges" to this community. However, that is completely dependant on the approach taken by the new player most times.
Here are a few examples of new players, and the typical response :

New player in game - HOW DO I TAKE OFF?!
Vet 1 - Hit Alt-F4
Vet 2 - RTFM
Vet 3 - Go to the Training Arena!
New player's experience? "They're all a bunch of Jerks"

New player in game 2 - Hello Bishops!
Vet 1 - JOIN MISSION IN 5 MINUTES
Vet 2 - Hello New Player! <S>
Vet 3 - NME CV 12,5,9
New player's experience? "Not sure what all that means but all right!"

New player in BBS - Hello Everyone. I am having trouble, can you help?
Vet 1 - Sure, what do you need help with?
Experience? Generally good.

New player in BBS - The 190 is borked! It doesn't turn fast enough. Your Mosquito is wrong! How can a P-38 turn tighter than my Spitfire?!
Vet 1 - Because you suck
Vet 2 - Because you're an idiot
Vet 3 - Proof, more proof, and nothing but the proof.
Experience? These guys are A-holes.

So you see, it's not that this community isn't a bit "rough" (it can be), but at the same time, people sometimes like to poke it with a stick, and instead of taking the advice they are given, the new player gets insulted and considers some AH folks to be a bunch of bad guys.

A LOT of the people here have been around for many, many years. They've seen just about every time of new player there can be, and unfortunately, if the new player expects everything handed to them on a silver platter, some members can slam the new guy down pretty harsh. But if you're reasonable and open to new concepts/ideas/learning, this community, I've found, is some of the nicest, most informative, and most helpful I've seen on the Net.

I hate the people who answer other players questions with Alt+F4.

I just went to download WB3, they wanted my CC info first... Hell noes, just let me try it out before you get your claws in! I also went to sign up to their forum, you need an active account... sigh.

I looked at some screen shots, the game looks 15 years old but at least they can get the sky looking right. <hint>
