You miscounted then, the real number was 9.

Keeping "score" is what the game is all about, after all isn't that where the term "ace" comes from?

How we compute the artificial score in the game is a bigger question. However regardless of the actual equation some folks will focus on that aspect and some won't. From my admittedly imperfect understanding the biggest problem is how use of a particular plane effects ranking (or doesn't). Players can elect to "score" sorties as fighter or attack and thus "massage" the output of the equation. So we see the use of 262's tempests and other planes (as one way of working score). So if we have an ENY of "5" for top planes what is the value of a tempest or 262 as it relates to score. If a temp has a default perk value of 60 vs an unperked 5 ride then the relative value of the temp is .0834%. So a k/d ratio of 20/1 in a temp would be equivalent to roughly 1.7/1 in a pony. Leaving the benchmark at an ENY of "5" then kills in a lower ENY plane would get marked up as well so a 1/1 KD in an ENY 30 ride would be equal to a K/D ratio of 6/1 for rank related scoring.

If you want to play for score/rank, its your $$$. Anyone here knows the score system is FUBAR and it really doesnt reflect ones skill.

This is incorrect, it takes a lot of skill to rank in the top 10, but it does not necessarily take the same skill that you interested in.

I've tried that a lot this tour and I can tell you it isn't as easy as it sounds. Every single time I got to the town some clown would be there waiting for me, or up as soon I got 1 rocket off   Same goes for the times I tried to hit the town with   a 251. It's getting to the point where a guy can't get a break during prime time   And I ain't about to stay up til 3 or 4 in the morning to get it done.
I got to say though, it has been a lot of fun learning some new toys. I'm working on a plan to take V Base hangers down and get a capture with nothing but 251s. So far it's proving pretty difficult just to get my range down. Once I figure it out, i'll then have to show my squaddies how to do it.
