What benefits does this software have over the previous?

I think its the first stage in vox and sound effects on separate devices but certainly it should be faster.

EDIT: Looks like it will offer HTC a lot of options actually.

Basically, it's software sound solution (as opposed to hardware sound solutions, such as a dedicated sound card) that is used mostly by developers as an alternative to low-end sound chipsets (like those found on motherboards with built in sound).  It has very low CPU over head and provides good and robust sound for a software solution.  Basically, it's great for those that don't have a dedicated sound card and have to rely on using the sound on their motherboard.

This is good as more can play. Does it offer any benefit for those with sound cards?

I was kinda hoping this would be a step towards being able to use a headset and speakers, ah well.

Why can't you use a headset and speakers?

Just curious. I don't know anything at all about the Miles sound system, I was hoping to get some info when I clicked here.  I just happen to use both a headset and speakers when I play, and haven't had any problems with it.

Madda, he means game sounds, guns, engines, through speakers and vox through headset.

It's been said this is not possible, previously. I think he's wondering if this takes him a step towards his wish :)

Curious (internet is being way too slow to search), what was the reasoning behind that not being possible or what it just said it can't be done?  Wondering since in my brief flight in FSX where I left my headset (USB) plugged in I got talking through that and engines/etc. through speakers.  Didn't know if that was just for prerecorded voices (ATC) or if there is something that would work but too complex for AH to use due to connections/computers used by the wide amount of people...?

Hit it on the head, would be awesome but I don't think will be seeing it anytime soon.

It simply doesn't work that way. The headphones are technically one sound device and the speakers another. You can't split a single signal to go to 2 separate sound devices.

Ahh gotcha.  Personally I like having it all through my headset, for the directional audio and clearness of the sounds.  I like to run the speakers at that same time too, mostly for the sub, it's awesome with that subwoofer providing the low end to the headset's range.

I got that Turtle Beach HPA2 headset a while back, and I really really love it

Yes you can but thats another matter.

As I posted in the first response to Kazaas question I think the whole point to using MSS is so they can seperate out Vox and sound effects. This is actually one of Hitechs 'wishes.'
