don't sweat it derk if someone annoys you just squelch them and carry on playing.

I joined an 18+  squadron when I was just 16,  because I didn't talk watermelon and just killed people.   There are plenty of young respectable kids (young men) that play  (TJ, Spektor etc)

It's just a fact of life Derk, in my school (in the 1960's) first formers (11 year olds) at our school were "bogged" by the older boys (head shoved down the pan and the flush pulled). Think your self lucky!

If you're a kid and don't want to be made fun of, act like TJ.

I've met guys younger than you who are good pilots and good guys.

But your communication style (i.e. "the way you type") plays a HUGE role in how people perceive you.  Like it or not, being able to communicate intelligently is an important aspect of being a respected adult.

I didn't get my own credit card till 18yrs old.  I like Wobblys  comment. My old high school had a freshman beat down day!  Most times  they'll tease yah because they know you're an easy rise at that age.

It's not really age but how you act and your maturity level. Respect everyone (or try to) and you will get respected back over time, and don't overuse the mic.

Like if you continuously type on country chat and people are REPEATEDLY asking you to stop. Act mature, don't annoy others trying to enjoy the game. You will earn a reputation quickly and if you work it right, people will treat you and respect you like an adult.

How you express yourself is going to be a huge part of how you are percieved, and what kind of reputation you are going to get.

Learn to think first, if in doubt, don't tap that enter key.

Its actually much easier to be a good well respected person here than in real life.
You always have that option to not send what you just wrote.
Plus if it gets bad enough, you can just alt F4 and walk away.

Actually there are some pretty cool kids in the game. But unfortunately they are few and far between. The vast majority of players here are adults (whether we act like it or not), and find that squeakers can be annoying, gamey, and unwilling to learn how to do things right. Most act like they know everything and end up being dumber then a bag of hammers.

Most won't take the time to read anything about the game, but are the first ones to jump in the MA and spam country channel asking how to start the engine, how do I take off, how do I drop bombs..etc. Then they'll get in the air and start firing at the folks on their side. Then when they do finally learn these thing, they become instant generals demanding support, posting missions with 100% fuel in the bombers, 25% fuel in the spits,....so on and so forth.

I have two young boys of my own, so I do try to treat the squeakers with some respect until they become annoying, and then I annoy them back. Just I would do my own :t The bottom line with me is, if you act like you have some sense, willing to learn, play right and are generally a good kid...I have no problem with you.
I have most of my run ins with the kids in their late teens and early 20s. There's a couple in this game that if I were to see them out and about, I'd stomp a mudhole in they're arse just for something to do. But that's a whole different thread .....
