repair hanger/pad??
« on: May 28, 2010, 08:50:40 PM »
i think it would be nice to have a repair hanger/pad because we have a re arm and refuel pad i think it would make sense to have a repair hanger. if we did have a repair hanger/pad the time would be different each time depending on how much damage your plane had. its just and idea that i had while flying. thanks, 67COUGAR, <<S>> all

Instead of telling you to search the forum, specifically this one, I will instead ask:

How long are you willing to wait in the "repair hanger" for your aircraft to be patched up or engine overhauled instead of just getting a new plane in five seconds?

I'm sorry but, you really should try the search function once in a while...not saying you should necro bump the old posts but, your questions could be answered a lot easier.

Darn it Wrgwy, you beat me to the punch again...  :lol

say if you had some kills and wanted more but say you were missing and aileron on elevator you could just go to the repair hanger and wait like 30 seconds and then takeoff again and get more kills

As I recall, Hitech himself said no to this idea. Your best option is just not to get shot or get a new plane. Sorry. :salute

Re-fuel, fine. Re-arm, fine. Repair? No. Adjust your tactics, and you won't get busted up so bad. The hard part is that it requires patience- something most kids lack.

so your saying that never ONCE youve made it back home with an oil leak and a couple kills and want to go back out for more?

Even if he did, this is usually an argument of where you draw the line at game-play and realism. The problem is that almost none of the damage that happens with our planes are quick fixes, they would take hours if not more depending on the plane and how it was built. There is a myriad of reasons on why we don't have this, and they've been listed time and time again but most of the people who want this don't listen. All in all I'm even one of the people who wanted to see this implemented, but I've read the arguments and it's understandable why we don't.

...I'd tower the oil-leaking plane, get a new plane, and go back out for more.

A plane that is shot up to the point that its engine is leaking oil is going to most likely get an engine replacement. Along with a full check of all systems. Even if everyone dropped everything to work on yours first. Your not talking minutes or hours, but rather days.

Accept that with everything there are certain limits. Learn to work inside those limits.

get your engine shot out in a tank, probably engine overhaul, your talking days, but it happens instantly here in the world of AH. same can be said for the turret, your logic is flawed

Depends on the tank. Some tanks had easily replaceable engines...meaning hours to replace, not days. Tracks, road wheels, bogies could be repaired/replaced in hours. Holes in the hull and turret...patched and welded up. However, under combat conditions, if the tank was disabled...abandon it.

ok well i dont think a plane can refuel and rearm in 30 secs that would take at leat 30 mins in reality

Coming at the issue from a gameplay perspective, NOT a realism one, consider it this way:

You earn your kills. You kill the enemy and make it back to your runway safely to land. Otherwise you don't get the name in lights. The very fact you need to be repaired before you go back out means you've failed. To still get your name in lights after a "health booster" (how arcade!) would cheapen every other player's efforts. The only feasible opiton would be that ANYbody using a repair hangar instantly gets their kill streak wiped clean.

Now tell me how many would use it that way?

All this request is (and has been for years) is a crutch to help people get their name in lights when they did not earn it. You take that crutch aspect away and all of a sudden folks stop wanting it.
