Picking sides in FSO
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:16:08 PM »
Out of the 44 squads currently in FSO, no less than 16 have picked either Allied or Axis for the last 4 events straight. There is no way we can accomodate more than 1/3 of the squads just wanting one side ALL THE TIME. Please have a look at the events and do some picking and choosing and from time to time and pick both. We post the FSO schedule so you can have a look at the upcoming events, albeit in very generalised terms ie; "ETO 1944" so you can make some choices.

In Junes FSO I had no choice but to put more than a few either Allied or Axis against their choices because they have only been one side for 4 straight (and many 3 out of 4) and have never picked but one side to be on. We dont like being put in that position. Give us a hand here and try to be a bit more flexible.

Thank you.

What if a squad wants to do nothing but Axis? Granted many aren't concerned one way or the other but there are squads that prefer to stick Axis or Allied win, lose or draw...especially the ones who fly certain aircraft almost exclusively.

Then they are going to be disappointed. FSO is not setup for "permanent" sides. It never was. I cant prevent what squads ask for, consider the thread just a FAQ on side assignments.

No offense Squire but, if that is the case then why ask for a preference in the first place? It would be better to just ask for participation and committment levels then have the CM's decide who goes to what side and let it go from there.

Personally if you give me a choice then tell me my choice is not valid because you say so, I'm gonna be less than accepting of it than I would if you didn't offer a choice, and that is exactly what is going on here.

Please update the FSO rules to reflect whatever rule there is about side assignments and change the sign up form to eliminate preferred side.

Not true in all cases.

FSO sides have never been guaranteed and never will be.
We ask for squads to give a preference because often we can accommodate. The Admin CM, (the CM who designs that months event) ultimately decides how and why the sides are divided. Some months are easy, others are not. Just depends on how many squads request Allied or Axis for that month.

It's a slap in the face to us squads that volunteer to fly Axis in the Pacific so the allied groups can fly their rides.

I won't argue this.  I brought JG11 to FSO because, and I quote,  "Dedicated Axis Squads are needed".  I'll link up the threads and PM's from 2005 if you anyone wants to debate this with me.  I guarentee you will look like a fool.

JG11 will not be meeting it's numbers committment in June - as a heads up to the Allied CiC's.

No more bigger croc of crap have I seen to date than this.

Out.

EDIT:  The reason some squads have Axis for four weeks in a row is so you and others can fly Allied....DOH!

WOW !! Just wow , how can it be that in agame people get so worked up about which side they are on?
I for one dont care what side i fly , just that I get a chance to fly. The FSO is the one thing that has kept me involved in AH For this long (that and my wonderful squadmates ) Pleas dont turn this into a "lets see whos D$%K is bigger game "
The people who put together the Missions for FSO are to be complimented on doing the best they can . I stand behind them 100 %.We all Should !  :salute

I have read,  those that want Axis normally get it, because most want Allied, The Muppets love the Axis rides so that is always our preference, I don't understand are there more people wanting to be Axis?

why are we Allied?

I love FSO it is a blast, and those that put it together do a lot of work and should be  :salute

no disrespect intended at all

but when you say those that want Axis will get it, well, stick to that.

What about wanting to be Axis all the time?  From my understanding of popularity from this game, Axis is the unpopular side.  Am I incorrect in this evaluation?  If I am not however, I think special accommodations should be made for the squadrons that want to fly Axis all the time, every time.

Ya know the only reason I still fly is because of the FSO's. To come in and see someone basically say squads that want to fly allied and squads that want to fly axis arent getting to fly those sides because they asked before is to me one of the most retarded things I have heard in here. The object of FSO is to have fun. As few Axis squads as we have,to put them in rides they dont like as well as allied squads into rides they dont like shows,to me, a lack of real skills in running these events. Making both sides of the equation like the event less just to keep up appearances isnt going to help with numbers. This is or should be a no brainer.

It used to be a "guideline" to switch squads after 2 or 3 times on side, certainly after 4.  Appraently it is no longer in use, so I am happy to announce the rosters have been updated. I will no longer be making mandatory switches. I was simply following a procedure which I am now told is outdated. Suits me fine. I like a happy clan.

So happy flying.  ;)

Holy crap, a lot of veterans in here are totally blowing up over something that's not an issue.

FSO has never guaranteed sides. They are very accomodating, but the plain and SIMPLE fact is it has ALWAYS been such that if you're needed for allies, you'll be placed in allies.

They are very accomodating on the matter, but when it happens you better not blow a nut or pop a vein in your forhead about it. Honestly, nothing I've read has ever suggested otherwise about the FSO setup.

I think mainly because Axis is normally the unpopular side, so why would squads that fly axis planes 24/7 not be able to get an Axis slot?  My interpretation.
