let me guess:

Top Kill, Junk Shot, Blow Hard, Thank God For the Anointed One,  and Come On Down (The Price is Right) didn't work

You do realize these catchy phrases are directly intended to deflect and couch the narrative?

This thread coulda been fine if you stuck to the facts and avoided the politics.

From what I understand BP has equipment and capabilities the government does not.  They are the only ones who can fix it, the consequences and investigation into whether or not they acted quickly and correctly enough can come afterwards.  Best you can do is demand that they don't delay getting a possible fix on location to save a few pennies, which they wouldn't do anyways because they're going to have to clean up the mess, which is going to be far more expensive.

I see people expressing "outrage", but I have to wonder... outrage towards what?  Accidents happen, that's how we as a species learn.  I'd be outraged if BP didn't clean up the mess and weren't trying to fix the problem, but from all appearances they are trying to fix the problem and have said they will clean up the mess.

Trial and error, that is what it comes down too.  Trying to stop something a mile deep in the oceans has never been done before.  So, hopefully they will learn all their error and mistakes and gain new and better approaches to this.

All appearances?  It's been a month flowing and the best chance they have, after 50+ years of drilling experience, is shoving golf balls and tires down the well head?  Really?  That's your best idea?

From all appearances, that just isn't cutting it.  Add to the fact they knew the blowout preventer was damaged four months prior to the accident....

Yes, the over pain engineers surely can do better.  I am as much outrage about it as many others are. but keep in mind that know one have ever try to plug up or cap a pipe a mile deep in the ocean.  They have a lot of elements against them.  Just have faith that they will do something right "for once" to stop it.  As soon as they will, there will many many law suits against BP from federal/state to civilians and organizations.
