Let us not forget what this was all about.  The fact that two kids are getting this much attention is really overshadowing the entire point of the mission.

<S> VEGA, the Mission was a huge success.

Also, someone mentioned this was just a game, remember;

The planes are fake, the people are real.
LOOK EVERYBODY!  I GOT MY NAME IN LIGHTS!

Folks, play nice.

I'm glad I wasn't flying.

It would have been really obvious with red and green icons flying just yards from each other and zero tracers. Doesnt matter either way... our boys understood not to fire even when fired upon. It is inevitable that someone would either not put it together or would not get the message or (as always theres one) just ignore everyone. I do not believe it spoiled the memorial and I dont think any more should be said about it.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

If you did not want shot at or vulched, the flight should have been in the SEA or the TA.  Because in the MA I view any RED icon as FAIR GAME.  Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings, also you don't pay my subscription, so I will play the game the way that I want to.

Also <S> VEGA. My Condolences for his family.

The ultra melon I presume?

Of course we absolutely knew there would be shots fired.
We wanted the most people available to pay respect, and that is what I remember about the mission.  If I had a penny for every display of respect towards a fallen AH'er I would be rich.

Yes it happened.  I do want to believe that the someone that did it simply didn't know any better.

I won't remember those parts of the mission.
I will remember......
All the DHBG almost choking up when DNR911 (His widow and long time AH'er herself) announced she was online and in Papafox's airplane.

The Bish lining up on our first overflights followed by all the <S>'s thrown out.

Approaching the first NME base and everyone instinctively calling out the cons only to have them wing up and fly with us.  Then more, and more, and more, till the sky was filled with as many red icons as green and 99% of the game showing respect.

Then flying over the second NME base and having two different NME red icons all in one big furball.  My wife next to me grabbing Kleenex after Kleenex at the sheer output of respect.

NME 262's and 234's completely vulnerable and flying WITHIN the ranks............easy pickings....and no shots fired.

I and others were angry at the shots fired, but like we said we knew it would happen and it was less than expected.
Those shots will be forgotten.
The honor and respect given by all who attended was overwhelming.

I've personally known Vega for over a decade.  He is the one who got me into AH. He was a friend.
I know he was watching and didn't mind.
Remember the actions of the hundreds who were there and not the bad ones that were expected and could have been accidental.

SERIOUSLY FOLKS

<S><S><S><S><S><S><S> to all who have shown their respects here and in the flight.

i understand how badly people wish to call out the flyers who gave no respect to the Memorial flight. Trust me, i truly want to also. but you cannot really say the names without violating forum rules... the people know who they are and getting angry at them will not change their attitudes to it. Be happy that the Bishops had enough respect to empty bays and guns before the flight so as to not be tempted to kill anyone also and make the memorial flight become a furball

Well said, but just FYI, DHBG had full ammo on-board every aircraft, we just didn't shoot back (and neither did our Escorts, mighty <S> to them for that also)

Next TT in honor of VEGA lets do the same thing. But this time honor him by all three sides upping to 20k and enMass meet at an agreed time over the center of the map and have the biggest no holds barred Furball in the history of the game. We can call it VEGA's Rumble.

This would be fun  :aok

really folks look at what your doing to what may be the last post that may contain Vega's name. tarnished.

so you held the flight in the MAIN ARENA yes not the smartest thing to do.

best thing to do is to hold it in the SEA.

the TA will not handle mass number of players.

the CM's will be more than happy to set it up for you and hang out for the duration of the event. just to make sure no unwanted company screws things up.

DA is not the place for a memorial flight, lots of newbs and dweebs fly there.

in all seriousness stop whining and b|tching here.

tapakeg made the best post i read on here <S> tapakeg.

Vega is gone sad thing to have happen great guy. its time to move on and do what he would have wanted the DHBG to do and that's to move on and keep going like he would want it to.

Salute to DNR911 and your Family miss, may god be with you in this time of sorrow.

Poorest taste imaginable

I think it was the words of EG2Hawk that should be brought here "Days like today, there are no sides"

And on the furball Idea, I would think we should all fly VEGA's fave plane in a gigantic furball.

I need a Dickweed to confirm but, it would be pretty crazy seeing 50 Bish, 50 Rook & 50 Knight B25H at 20k furballing.

Maybe a way to give something in this "venue" would be for ALL to up 262s fly to the same location and cerinoniously AUGER all those perks in HONOR of the fallen! At least in a strange AH way you would be sacrificing something "in rememberence"  :aok   Just a thought

I was in said EPIC mission for the first leg of the flight but landed to attend the memorial.  I don't recall anyone claiming to be the memorial flight, but then again I only flew a couple of sectors with them.  One of my squaddies was with them the entire flight though and I'm interested to hear his take on things.

I flew the epic mission the whole flight and never once did I hear or see anyone using the memorial flight as cover either. Have to call B.S. on anyone that has used that as and excuse to attack the memorial flight.

And the epic mission was a strat run, not and HQ run.

At the end of the day, this kinda stuff shouldn't really be held in the MA.

1. It's the MA people are paying to play and kill other players regardless of circumstance

It doesn't matter what you say to people about whats going on where it's going on, people will still kill other players if given the chance, all of it could have been avoided by holding it in the TA. I am pretty sure those who wanted to remember and pay their respects would have turned up.
