Of course we absolutely knew there would be shots fired.
We wanted the most people available to pay respect, and that is what I remember about the mission. If I had a penny for every display of respect towards a fallen AH'er I would be rich.
Yes it happened. I do want to believe that the someone that did it simply didn't know any better.
I won't remember those parts of the mission.
I will remember......
All the DHBG almost choking up when DNR911 (His widow and long time AH'er herself) announced she was online and in Papafox's airplane.
The Bish lining up on our first overflights followed by all the <S>'s thrown out.
Approaching the first NME base and everyone instinctively calling out the cons only to have them wing up and fly with us. Then more, and more, and more, till the sky was filled with as many red icons as green and 99% of the game showing respect.
Then flying over the second NME base and having two different NME red icons all in one big furball. My wife next to me grabbing Kleenex after Kleenex at the sheer output of respect.
NME 262's and 234's completely vulnerable and flying WITHIN the ranks............easy pickings....and no shots fired.
I and others were angry at the shots fired, but like we said we knew it would happen and it was less than expected.
Those shots will be forgotten.
The honor and respect given by all who attended was overwhelming.
I've personally known Vega for over a decade. He is the one who got me into AH. He was a friend.
I know he was watching and didn't mind.
Remember the actions of the hundreds who were there and not the bad ones that were expected and could have been accidental.
SERIOUSLY FOLKS
<S><S><S><S><S><S><S> to all who have shown their respects here and in the flight.
