Organizing this thing in the MA was a stupid idea to begin with.  :headscratch:

Yes it would've been a nice gesture to not run the stupid, err epic rook hq raid lastnite. Rather instead organizing with the Vega flight. :old:

It was understood from the moment the Memorial launched that there would be 'somebody' that attacked the flight. No one returned fire so it was pretty obvious that if someone made more than one attack they knew what was happening... but so what?

The MA is the ONLY place to hold memorial flights and the 'DO NOT ENGAGE' rule for the flight is the only way to do these memorials. The only thing that could be even more beautiful is if there was a common VOX transmission calling the deceased to action. It is always the last call that no one can answer.

So the great 68KO memorial was held in the wrong arena?

Nonsense.

I say that because there are a lot of people that dont read the BBS and in the MA even if the flight has already started the broadcast of the flights position and so on can bring more and more people in to join.

Also it seems so very appropriate to have aircraft that are participating remove themselves from action indicating their thoughts are upon the lost member of the community and not upon making a perfect film (although that can be nice too).

I was in said EPIC mission for the first leg of the flight but landed to attend the memorial.  I don't recall anyone claiming to be the memorial flight, but then again I only flew a couple of sectors with them.  One of my squaddies was with them the entire flight though and I'm interested to hear his take on things.

This was held in the Main Arenas?

I thought most are held in the TA or Special Arenas so this type thing does not happen.

I flew in Swoops' Epic mission, lift to landing and heard no such claim  at anytime...

I have a feeling that it was just confusion.  I'd rather give the benefit of the doubt than jump to conclusions.

I personally thought it went well. 2 or 3 idiots with 500+ people online is way less than I gave AH credit for. We came, we flew, we remembered and honored a great friend and pilot. Those guys barely scratched the surface of the memorial. I agree with Phan, that anything further is unnecessary.

As for the rash things said on 200, I agree that some were well over the line. Although I know that several of the people who said such things knew Vega in RL very well. It was an emotionally charged situation and sometimes even the best of people have a hard time acting with class when these things happen. I just hope they are somewhat remorseful.
