I believe you are incorrect kind sir...as much as it galls me to say this I believe Notre Dame has the Big Red by about 10 games with an all time record of 837–290–42 (.734)...I must go and bathe in epsom salt and dog poo with cat pee to cleanse myself from talking and giving ND any kind of credit for anything sports wise...From what I can gather from my College Football Encyclopedia Nebraska's all time record is 827–341–40 (.701). Granted

I had a bad source then.   :aok

Nonetheless, they are up there.   :)

Nebraska has the greatest overall record in Division 1 history.

They may have the best but really strugle in the last six/seven years.  They will never gain that national powerhouse like they had when Osborne was coaching.

Oregon a powerhouse....HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

That is one of the funniest things I have ever seen you write you Pac10 whiner!

BTW FSU is 6-5 in bowl games since 2000 with a National Championship in 2000. Much better than the Big Red.

I never said i was a Pac 10 fan, where in the world did you come up with the ideal that i am a Pac 10 fan?

FSU 6-5 in bowl, that good.  BSU is 6-4 in bowl games.  So i do believe that BSU is a growing powerhouse team considering they join the A-1 in 1996.

I was mistaken, but they are in the Top Ten.  Tom Osborne is the Athletic Director now and I'm telling you, next year's team will be damn good, it could be a special year for the Huskers.

Just because he is the athletic director doesn't mean they will be good.  Since we are talking about Nebraska, who is the coach?

Well I know that, you mentioned his name, I said he is the A.D.  The head coach is Bo Pelini.  Last year's team was a second away from winning the Big 12 championship against Texas, who, as result of a 13-12 win (and some luck), got to go to the NC game.  Nebraska then went to the Holiday bowl against Arizona and crushed them 33-0.  This year's team, has lost Suh on defense, which will be a huge blow, but the defense is so deep it hopefully won't be down too much from it's top three in the country status last season.  The offense, which was downright pathetic last year, in part due to the starting QBs arm injury, will be much improved, with a chance to actually average 20+ points a game.  Couple these two likelihoods together, with the mentality Bo Pelini has in place, it could be a BCS bowl or bust type of year.

Pelini is a kick butt kind of coach. I got to listen to him at a coaches conference a few years ago talk about his philosophy for defense and its amazing what you can take away from just a few minutes talking football 1 on 1 with him. If my son was being recruited to go there I would have no problem sending him out to Lincoln except that is a long way from Alabama and boys get homesick.

Oh and this may all be a moot point if what is being reported this morning happens. There is a big deal that Texas has committed to staying in a 10 team Big 12. One of the sports talk shows here said why don't the current Big 10 and Big 12 just switch names and licensing agreements to keep things good. Texas A&M appears to be the key piece of this puzzle because apparently the Board of Regents voted that if the conference imploded they would like to see A&M join the SEC and somehow Virginia Tech has come into the SEC picture as well in the last 48 hours.

Very interesting time.

As for the Pac10 fan comment I am going off of what you were saying or rather what I remember you writing last year during football season about the Pac10 being a better/stronger conference than the SEC. If that wasn't you then I apologize for that I didn't have time to look it up and when I did I couldn't find the thread.

Bo Pelini is Neb. Coach.  Coached under Jim Tressel at Ohio State.

Also...for those of you who say the Big 12 is better....check out the records
of the major conferences in the last bowl games played earlier this year.

And that included the Auburn Northwestern game...NW not considered a power house by a longshot...Auburn dodged a bullit to win.

I was hoping that Nebraska would beat texas.  They should do it this year and maybe win the Big 12 championship. a good way to end your last year in the conference.

Has he revived any offers yet?  A&M in the SEC, i can see them doing that,  but i think what is left of the Big 12 teams might want to stay.  Seeing Nebraska going to BigTen was not expected.  Why the Big Ten?
