So I quit, ... for about 9 months. Just wanted a change of pace and was getting pretty tired of shooting at things for 8 secs dead 6 and watching them fly off.
I found out my internet connection was suffering from major packet loss. OK so that should account for 'some' of the issues. I went offline, was able to down planes with 50 cal VERY easily, from side to side - dead 6, up and overs and down and arounds...
Recently rejoined, really liked the idea of a p47m until I realized that once again, it appeared I was shooting blanks. So again, I took this crate offline and sure enough again, this is a very effective plane..OFFLINE, but online I can't seem to do anything.
Today I nailed a b26, all along the top of the wing, swooped down and nailed it dead 6...nada..not even a control surface flinched.
yesterday and a few other times, I've noticed the same effect. You think you've got someone, spray them with an awesome deflection shot, nice long one too...then you look and ...NADA.
Very frustrating.
So, I decided that since I first suspected this, I would check out the good ole pingplotter. One of the reasons for my return, other than missing it, was that my internet provided did a major overhaul of their systems in my area. I get 0% packet loss now and probably 10 different tests to the servers mentioned in the technical support forums. Pretty good, perfect actually. VOIP is once again an option in my area, I think Comcast finally did somethign about it when they started losing almost every VOIP customer.
Well needless to say, this didnt seem to fix things much.
So I got to ask, any ideas?
I once played a game that required fast updating to keep things accurate for gunning, they had issues but eventually updating their game and their servers to four times the speed refresh. Ping times now were prevalent and many of the rubber bullet complaints were gone. Is this game still running on an old rusty t1 and some outdated switching equipment or we talking state of the art stuff here now?
Again, just wondering as it's a cause for frustration, and really between having to wait 20 minutes to get onto my server (much longer than I used to) and these seemingly rubber bullets, I'm perplexed.
