It was my luck to get one of the infamous dud torpedoes, otherwise that direct hit right through the flak panzie's turret would have sunk it.

Last night I joined a stuka mission which was fun. It was announced on 200 and we were expecting much more resistance but never got any, but flattened a base anyway.
IMO..NOE missions are just boring. I used to join those 25 smash grab 110s and it was fun at first, but it really stunk landing with a full clip of ammo. After a while, you just dont care how the war is, and each base looks the same, even if we own 2 or 200 fields.

EZRhino STUKA mission was fun the other night :rock, so really -  torpedoes work on GV's - I have been wanting to try that -squaddies think I'm nuts (probably true)  :old:. Would be a great film from a GV - look up here comes a torp!

Torps will work on any object in the game, it's not dependent of needing the target to be on water.  In addition, if you dive at a shallow enough angle when you drop the torp, you can take out a row of houses in the town because the torpedo plows through a few of them before exploding.  Unfortunately, a film I have showing Mensa taking out some rows of houses the town when he dropped 2 torps from a Ju 88 (Mensa is the one that should be credited, he discovered it) isn't compatible with the current version of AH.

I was wondering why or not do you join a mission.  Is it the poster,  the plane set, or you just kinda wanna do you're own thing?

I wish there were more missions that appealed to me, because some of them can be the best fun you'll have all night.  My personal favorite is a semi-deep bombing raid that goes in at an altitude where you will more than likely encounter several bandits, but still have a chance of success.  Something along the lines of bombers and escorts mixed from about 15-25k.  Filth used to run a few like this that I really enjoyed.

Unfortunately, it seems like most of the times I see "MISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!" I check, and it is Tiffs, 110s, Mossies, P-51s, and P-47s, all loaded to the gills with every ounce of ordinance they can carry.  Often, the fuel loads are overbearing for some planes, and not enough for others, and it just puts me off.

I also like the occasional oddball fighter sweep, but I've found that in general they aren't as much fun as the bomber escorts.

Ought to check out the 91st on Saturday nights, if you are willing to swap Bish. They usually get many formations up and a bunch of escorts.

The problem's not visiting the Bish, but the Saturday night :) but if I ever get a chance I might take you up on that suggestion.  Good to know, thanks :aok

As Uptown, Ack, Del, Bj229r and anyone who's ever joined a "Candy Mountain Mishun" of mine can attest to, there is nothing but laughs.   If "fun" is for you, than you'll like it.   If you play for "score", you'll only hurt your Rank.   Too many people who call themselves "Mission Planners", haven't a friggin clue on what to drop, in the order to drop it.   I cut out the middle man and force the opponent to do one of two things.   One, attack a group of 15-20 D3A's or B5N's and hope you make it out after a single pass.   Two, you'll run to ack and hide from us.

Meanwhile, people involved in the mission are damn near de-acking a field in these POS rides, just to be able to shoot at something.   You'd think people would have some stones and roll, instead 9 times out of 10, they cower.   For those who think I'm "exaggerating", I have plenty of saved CMM's film saved and anyone who has joined can without question back my statements up.   The last mission had two people "drop out of the mishun", because "I can make a better one than you".   The only problem is, they only had to wait a few minutes for the fireworks to begin and you will not come close to the "fun factor".   It just ain't happenin.

<<S>> to all who enjoy the silliness of the Mishuns I post.   As a matter of fact, I'll post a couple tonight.    :rock

This is about as "self-indulgent" as I have ever been on the BBS, but I post these Mishuns for all of you that join, not for me.

I can back this up. I've only been able to fly in a couple of Karaya's missions, but damn are they a blast.

As Akak has stated, you MUST be at the correct angle of attack. I'd rather use the TBM though as the JU-88 is just harder for me to get the torpedoes on target.
