Host Connection lost
« on: June 14, 2010, 02:28:30 PM »
I keep getting disconnected this afternoon. I've never had the problem before.
I cleaned up my PC and eliminated temp files and that sort of thing but, I keep getting a "Host Connection Lost" message.

As far as I can tell my internet is working fine.

Run a ping plotter test and post results.

I went to "ping details"  I counted up to 68 sent and 20 of them were lost.

I did also get the "switching to TCP" message. I checked and I have AH as an exception to allow it to pass through the firewall.

I don't know what that means but it can't be good......

Go to this website and download the PingPlotter Freeware (Skuzzy approved download).

http://pingplotter.com/freeware.html

Ping this IP:  216.91.187.39

I believe that is the MA server, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm also having a problem I've never seen in the 3 years I've been playing.
My screen goes almost total black on start up.
Can barely make out enough to close.
even other windows are black.
only happens on start of AH.

I would suggest you start a new thread in the technical support with a more detailed explanation of your problem plus a DXDiag.

Are you connected to your modem via ethernet cable, USB, or running wireless?

I ran the pingplotter and the last destination says destination unreachable.
I saved it as a picture but I'm having trouble placing that picture here. It's not a Jpeg it says it's a PNG image.....

How do I do that?

Thanks....

First of all, make sure you run at least 50-100 samples to get a good reading and average.  You can 1) Copy the image as you have done, paste it into a program like paint or gimp, and select File>Save As.  Under the file name is will show something like "PNG (*.png)", click that drop down box and select .jpg.  You then should be able to retrieve to upload to photobucket or a similar photo hosting site.  Your second option is to 2) Simply copy the text and past it into a reply here on the forums.

Also, as Sperky asked, how do you connect to the internet?

I'll try to put it in "paint."

I use a comcast cable modem. I have also just been getting a lot of "Internet explorer can't connect" messages like if I'm trying to go to AOL or, my squad website.

Comcast, gotcha.  Now does the modem connect to your computer via USB or the Ethernet cable?

My modem connects through what looks like a huge phone cable so I'm guessing that's ethernet.

Comcast did a check on it and even though the light on the modem is on (meaning connected) all the time; they saw it read on and offline a bunch while making the check and doing the ping plotter from their office. They are sending someone to look at it this afternoon. I had my satellite TV dish moved the other day. The satellite and comcast TV cable run in to my house right next to each other and go in to the TV w/splitters. I've had it that way for years and it's worked fine. I'm wondering if the DirecTV people moved/adjusted something that is causing the disturbance.........

Thanks for all your input!

You should have a splitter with one cable direct to the modem. The more the signal get split the worse it gets. I would split it before it goes to Direct TV, one going right to modem and the other to the Direct TV splitter. Then the Cable and Direct TV can use the same wire but needs to be split again at the Direct TV box. hope that makes sense. The installers do it the easiest way they can you need to tell them what you want or if they don't want to take your equipment back with you.

Thanks Cryptic!

It turned out to be a modem problem. Comcast wanted to say it was an issue w/my pc. I finally got it fixed yesterday morning as the tech went to his truck Friday and realized he didn't have another modem w/him............ :furious
