Most Recent Version of Tilesetter
« on: June 17, 2010, 03:13:19 AM »
I did a search and the most recent version I found was 2.0. I was wondering if there was a more recent version to accommodate new changes in the TE?

Tilesetter doesn't work on Windows 7.

GD have you tried placing these two files in the same directory as the tile setter exe file? "COMCTL32.OCX, MSVBVM50.DLL"

That's what I had to do to make it work in Vista.

I will try that. I didn't have those files in the same directory as tilesetter.exe on my XP machine. They were over in the system directory of windows. Placing the file MSVBVM50.DLL in the system directory of windows 7 didn't work since it just have me a message that the DLL is deprecated and no longer supported.

So I will see what happens your way. As for Tilesetter itself it is still good for creating a base CBM map and also setting your roads and railroads. Outside of that quite a few things have changed and not sure if it can even work with placing textures or not with the new TE (haven't tried it).

Yeah give that a try GD...and I have figured out a way to have it set the base tiles so you can have a starting point with your terrain.

Just have to get a tutorial/help file written up...

Well it would be nice to have "the set tiles to grass under base" functionality. Instead of having to go to do that yourself manually when you set bases. Nothing like a tree in the middle of your base to ruin your day.

The TE removes ground clutter from any cell with a GMS when it builds the terrain. It also removes any ground clutter from cells with water.
Easy in-game again.

how do you get around the .typ file? Tilesetter 2.3 asks for an elvation file and a .typ file. I do not have a .typ file in my new terrain so it will not work

Sorry for the late response Raptor been in the process of moving.
The work around is to rename your grndtyp.bmp file to "yourterrainsnape.typ" and then tile setter will work.
I haven't been able to get the tutorial wrote up yet for using it with the new TE, just got moved into our temp. housing.

whew, leave for a few years and they change everything on you! YourGroundType.bmp? At least they still use the greyscale elevation import option!

I read your quick tutorial on the new TE and it seemed pretty basic, didn't include this stuff I am use to.

Yeah Raptor the tutorial's started out as a basic set of instructions for the people with no experience at all with the TE.
I intend to continue with more advanced tutorials but real life is keeping me busy right now.

Did you get tile setter working yet?
