However I'm someone who STRONGLY believes that a man should NEVER strike or harm a woman except for VERY extreme circumstances

I agree with that. Recently I was wrongly accused of striking a woman. Turned out to be a case of someone having the same name as me, but the mere accusation of doing something like that was the most insulting thing I've ever experienced. So much so that it sent me into depression. However, I disagree with your conclusion. I believe the officer had no choice.

Is she just THAT stupid?  Did her parents fail her that utterly?

The answer is, "Yes."

That cop should be suspended and retrained. If he can't control two weak 20 years old girls...what is he planning to do when those grappling skills (or lack of) will actually require him to subdue someone of same weight category?.  Just twist that arm like a chicken wing and person will comply very quickly.

He certainly does need some more training in that department. The situation would never have escalated to the point that it did if he knew how to put someone down.

Rule I've always tried to live by: When a man with a gun tells you to do something... you do it.

I think it's kind of funny how people cry and are shocked when they ignore/smart off to an officer and then get the resultant punishment for it. This whole thing actually could have been avoided if the little idiot woulda just done what the officer said and received her $40 j-walking ticket. I'm glad she got punched in the teeth.. I wish they would have tased her too.

Where are you a police officer? Maybe you can do some CE for their dept and show them how real men do it.

Cop did what he had to do. Now, of course Al Sharpton will come in and all this will become a "Cop was racist" thing, as he always tries to make every event a racial one.
I hope the Chief continues to back the cop, and not fall to the media/Sharpton bull that is bound to come.

He does have a point. That guy was struggling just to get that one tiny girls arm behind her. That is pretty sad.

In my part time gig I apprehend shoplifters In my experience females are very hard to restrain, their center of gravity is different they are more flexible its hard to get them down. You also are trying to be mindful of the fact they are female and that people view them as the weaker sex wether they are or not. I have had to throw them to the ground and had to throw a knee strike or two never felt bad after because it was their choice to fight.

I would say he probably had the ability to slam her down on the car and restrain her but didn't really want to injure her.  He had control but probably didn't want to 1) be too violent with her with the other women around and 2) actually physically hurt her.  That was the impression I got from it.

The problem is he tried to control her using too little force.  The kicker is that if he used the appropriate amount of force to get into a arm bar or other mechanical control hold they would be screaming police brutality, dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.  And for those that thought this was excessive for "jaywalking", it went from "jaywalking" to obstruction as soon as she refused to comply with the direction from the officer.  The officer did a good job under the circumstances and maintained his cool   :aok

So punching her in a face....is "too little force".  I repeat, he didn't have control of this situation.  Return to school and relearn skill that are required as a lifeline in this business.
