What happened? Life happened while you were not paying attention. Wait until the music you used to listen to in Highschool is almost 50 years old!

Ok so I was driving my wife to work this morning, and tuned to my local DC Oldies radio.
When did the music I grew up with become Oldies ??? How did this happen?
The only thing I can think of is we entered a time space continuim and therefore music has aged.
I know I haven't aged so this must be it! What do you think ?

You got "oldie".

Kids today think the Beatles & Stones were from the Bronze age.

I figured out I was getting old when the music I listened to as a teen became classic rock.  Well that
and when that sign at the convenience store that says you need to be born before this date to buy
tobacco began 4 years after I graduated high school in 1980  :D

Going back to school I saw a younger (much younger then me) student wearing a Led Zepplin shirt with the concert list of 1977. I saw the Oakland concert in 1977, which was one of the last concerts Led Zepplin ever played in the USA. I think I payed $13.00 for the ticket.
Guess I am old to, instead of rocknroll, now its classic rock lol.

I bet that kid pay $30-$40 for that shirt.

Oddly enough I started listening to a classic top 40 station.

The Classic Rock Stations I was listening to sold out... Literally.

One station dumped all there DJs and bought ESPN programming. My other regular stations are now talk/comedy programs in the morning all of their songs are the same after that. I love rock from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. But I can only stand so much AC/DC, Pink Floyd and Def Lep. I would rather hear more 60's stuff with some 70's stuff laced in.

Here in West Virginia, there are not many options.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

You must live in an odd corner of the world where you can't hear Beethoven on the radio

Beethoven is on radio stations? Well I guess he might be on a few but, not on many, just saying that music changes over time. :)

Sigh,

When I was a kid the number one hit single was "Borne on a mountain top" about Davy Crockett.... It really wasn't that long ago. Side note, we played "War" in our back yards, using stuff peoples dads and uncles brought back from the Pacific. One item I particularly remember was a Japanese Flag that had a shotgun made hole through the sun....
