MidWar Plea About Maps
« on: June 29, 2010, 03:48:23 PM »
Speaking of maps, many of us in Midwar would really like to see the Mesa and Mesa View maps gotten rid of. Could you please, please, please replace those maps with something else? Some have suggested replacing them with some older maps we don't use anymore. Mindanao? :furious

Sound off fellow Midwarriors!

As a MW player I would say keep them but add a few more in the rotation.

Id like to add one of the big maps to MW and see if the Nits could roll all the undefended bases in record time...  :rofl

On a serious note what can be done to populate MW with more players?  Is it the plane set that keeps players out?

It is a paradox. Numbers are not in MW because MW does not have numbers.

I was thinking the same thing when I logged on tonight and saw that map again.   :huh

Also... I too would like to see bigger numbers in MW. MW has a great group of regular players on ALL sides...  but bigger numbers would be nice.  xtigers in flight status reports are quite entertaining!  :aok

The main reason I pretty much permanently left Late War was because of the large maps that seemed to take over the arena.

Great map but was a bit skewed towards the country that controlled the northwest sectors.

Great map but was a bit skewed towards the country that controlled the northwest sectors.

Skewed only in the sense that that was the hardest part of the map to reset ... they didn't always win.

The country that controlled the north/northeast part of the map was usually the winner, which left the country in the south always fighting a 2 front war.

On a serious note what can be done to populate MW with more players?  Is it the plane set that keeps players out?
It is the lack of numerous ultra fast uber cannon armed birds.  The people flock to LW because of the fast food reflex.  In other words, MW is more difficult, takes longer to get a fix = less population.  Of course there are other lessor reasons , folks flocking to where the larger herd is, etc etc.  But basically, High speed + mass cannon.

yep
same reason i don't play in early war, it is boring, the rides are fun for a bit but they fizzle out pretty quick, no good gv's to speak of unless you want to plink off another t-34 for an hour or so!
mid war offers a chance to get away from a lot of the late war planes while still offering a pretty good selection of stuff to play with, I have half a chance in my d-11 in there!
some new maps would be nice and more players would be great to!
I have asked before if we could move the timeline up six months or so in mid but most say no, this would attract some more players but might also change the balance of the the planeset to much!

I also think early war should be re done, as a progressive war arena, starting out in the early days of the war and progressing threw the entire war till all planes where available at then end, then reset it every month and start over, this would add a new aspect were you could fly one type of plane set threw the whole tour if you wanted to, or you could just fly the planes you like when they come up, kind of like a mini tour of duty! score would be a little more important here and offer a chance to specialize in areas of the game not really allowed in the main arena's since you could have a p-38 ace instead of just, the best in fighters!  the jug drivers could start out in the d-11 and progress all the way threw to the n and m, plenty of german fighters to do this in as well!
it would be a good way to understand more aspects of why and when things became available during the war and how they affected it!

So what your saying is the MW arena takes more skill to play in and that keeps players out....

That would be a lot of fun....  But then strats would have to be redone as well.  Make them more important to defend.  As it is now the only reason anyone thinks of defending them is the chance for "easy bomber kills"  There have been some really good threads about new strats recently and I hope HTC seriously looks into it.

thanks,,, i have been thinking about this for more than a year, I have not figured out exactly how to redo the strats to make it work better, maybe just better defended by ack, and or some spawns into the strats to defend them by ground!
the one thing i hate about the new strat system is the lack of ability to get to them on the ground!  maybe the old style strats with a better air defense system that had to be taken out before it could be porked
