Bots for offline play
« on: March 04, 2001, 07:10:00 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm real new to Aces High, and so far out of my two days of play, I've only shot two people down (and one of the times was only because I crashed into the other guy!)

Obviously, I need to work on my technique, so I was wondering if there are any bots that I can download to practice against offline, or any scenarios that support one player games, as playing offline at the moment is pointless. All the other planes are on the same side as me!
I want something that actually attempts to shoot at me.

Can anyone help?

No! No bots!

Maybe someday HTC will build some sorta intellegent drone, but not now.  They are too busy.  You can try H2H and ask someone to help in your gunnery.

THe AH Training Arena is the best.  Added with some of the best pilots as trainers you can get access to a huge database of knowledge there!

Good Luck!

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

What a shame, doesn't anyone know how to make one? Is AH not open source?

DaGuvna : I hate to say this but the best practice tool for AH is WarBirds offline .

That game is far enough along to have what you want .

I wish it was differant , but seems AH is still to young . haha , when I used to get mad at AH I shot HT and Pyro in the WarBirds game offline

cheers
spro

PS: Spit5 , P51B , and then 190A4 . Have fun

My current Ace's High handle is spro

Join a squad, fly as much as possible, and you will have much more fun.  There's alot more to a sim when ya join in  (poet?)

You don't need drones or bots, you can play 8 player H2H for free.  Real people are much more challenging opponents.

Yeah, but perhaps I'm not the only one in my family who likes to use the internet hmmm?
Also, the computer I use for browsing is a rubbish P200, whereas MY computer is a 700 Athlon but is not connected to the net, so it would be nice to have dog fights that ran faster than 2 fps (and I'm not exagerrating there!)

Oh yeah, and with regards to the $29.99 a month subscription:

THERE IS NOOOOOOO WAY I AM EVER GONNA PAY THAT!!!!

$30 a year, fine, but $30 a month is just a complete rip-off, when I could buy far more superior games that I can play both online AND offline properly for a one-off fee of $30.  I don't care if it's one big war online with over a squillion people playing over sooper-de-dooper servers. The fact is that I only have a 56K modem, and so massive online wars would run like paint!

Until online gaming becomes more reliable I ain't paying a thing, this game is sooo fragile, if anything goes wrong at all, thw whole computer crashes (and that's not just on my computer, friends have had the same probs.)

I know AH is a really ACE game, and it's real nice of HiTech to allow H2H games for free, but I'm sure they'd get a HELL of a lot more custom if they dropped the subscription to a reasonable amount. I'd be happy to pay $30 a year to play.

So, you thing HTC should invest resources in writing bots, in return for witch you never plan to pay them.

Ok.

You get what you pay for.

Well,DaGuvna,I have a feeling you are looking in the wrong place regarding online flights sims.  Perhaps, Air Warrior or FA might suit your taste better.  I think both are only $9.95/mo.

BTW, you should think about getting a new puter first as you may have trouble with the current one in these other two games.

Then when ya get tired of bad connects and cheesy graphics, Aces High will still be here and better then ever
