One cliche after another in this post.  No amount of "networking" (which is just some BS catchphrase, big around colleges) I stopped applying for real jobs along time ago its useless why bother even applying to a position that could be getting hundreds of applicants?  The bottom line is luck and being at the right place at the right time.  although the more time you spend looking the more likly you will eventually get lucky.

Networking = knowing someone who will give you a job or knowing someone who knows someone.  Nothing more.

Unfortunately, looking for a job is pretty much useless these days. I'd say look, but don't expect to find anything.

dude.....that has to be the dumbest thing i've seen.

even if it's not in his chosen profession, there is something out there.

First collecting unemployment is not the same as being on welfare.  Second he didn't say he was taking either one.

My advice, and I don't offer it as good advice, merely as not-yet-mentioned advice: Play an even more addicting online game.  Yes it'll be bad at first, but you'll burn out faster and then be back to the real world.  Ever try World of Warcraft?  Mr. T can hack it, so can you (lol).

Only play at night as a form of self discipline - the daytime is too precious to waste.

And according to everyone under 25 at the moment there's vampires and werewolves all over the place. so night time is a good time to be indoors.

And anyway reality is for people who can't handle Aces High.

If "service" = Military, are you implying there are no lazy people in the Military?

I would love to go to Alaska. Major fishing all around, can't turn a corner without seeing untamed wilderness. It is on my bucket list, believe you, me.

Kentucky has some great wilderness too.

Tennessee starting to lose its wilderness (at least in the part i live in)

Kentucky won't become a business state in the near future, we will retain our wilderness for eons to come at the rate we are growing at.

As soon as I wake up in the morning (laid off) I stumble into the livingroom, hit the power button, get some iced coffee outta the fridge, sign into AH. The only time I take a break is to eat, ect.  Too absorbed to even wash my nice Mustang or anything, only leave the house to get beer or go to Karaoke a couple times a week.  How have some of you broke the AH addiction? I need help!   :joystick:

you have a p51??

even if it's not in his chosen profession, there is something out there.

sure but you might have to move or fight with hundreds of others trying to apply for the same job....i dont know about id rather not take my chances if they were 1 and 100 odds.

networking is bull too its just another catch phrase these people come up with.  Its like just by meeting someone and being their acquaintance means much.  If you ask someone if they know of a job chances are they already gave it to or told someone they actually care about, instead of someguy they just met who wants to "network" with you.  I wouldnt say its who you know, its more like who you know well.  Not some group of people who have have as like twitter friends or some crap.

Now adays its more about where you live than anything else if you are near where the jobs are at then good for you.

all you have to do, is to be willing to work outside of your chosen profession, and probably for less than you're used to working for. this keeps money coming in while you continue your looking for something in your chosen profession.

and networking is not bull. the shop across the street hires every single one of their mechanics, and gas attendants that way. if i cannot get my friend to come to work for/with me at my shop, i will hire the same way.

but then i'm talking networking in real life, not networking with a bunch of screen names..........
