Hmmmm... I can't praise high enough my 40GB Deskstar. It certainly is the best HD I've ever had. Too many lawyers in California? ;)

My 45Gigs GXP 75 has been spinning almost a year now without any problems.

Bad thing is, when you start noticing problems, you HAVE a problem =)

The fault was reported to be mostly in the large capacity drives with 3 discs. The fact that the drive has an unusually high fault rate doesn't mean ALL drives will fail..

IBM 60 GXP series was pushed to the markets because of the problem with the 75 series.

I have 2 IBM Deskstars (20 and 40GB)... best drives I've ever had.

You want problems, I can tell you 100 stories about some Quantum Bigfoot drives from a few years ago... every one I knew of failed within a year.  Different computers, different companies, they all went bad.

Really Soda? I have a quantum Bigfoot still at active use in my old Cx166+ box which I gave to my mother.. 3 years at hard use.. Seems very reliable to me!
