I don't catch them on the inland lakes I fish, but we do get them smoked from the market regularly.

Guess what I'll be having for a mid-morning snack?

Edit: I had grandiose plans of running to the market and posting a pic of some wonderful smoked whitefish. Unfortunately the had none.  :bhead

Day old salmon will have to suffice...

$12.49/lb !!!!  :cry

Where I used to camp and fish in Door County WI there was a fish store out on the tip of the peninsula that sold the most outstanding smoked whitefish you ever ate. On the day we left I'd go up there and buy loads of it to last me for months. Nothing like fresh caught smoked whtefish.

Very easy to do and learn. And very rewarding. Many fish you wouldnt think of eating taste great when smoked. Like carp, ocean bluefish, amberjack, almost anything.

I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth snake with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait.
Knowing the snake couldn’t bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.
Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing using the frog.
A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. It was that snake, with two more frogs…

HAHA Melvin sometimes I do.
Here are a few photos of some fish finally.
The salmon and steelhead are from the Stamp River on Vancouver Island, The Hali is from Tasu Sound, Queen Charlotte Islands. The Hali was caught using Mooching gear 25lb test and taken in 300 feet of water. It took about 90 mins to land, with the last 75 feet or so hand bombed to the surface.

You all know I'm into my fishin...especially when things in life suck...(like right now with my dad). Nothing better than getting on the water and getting away from everyone and just thinking...relaxing and being in a quiet place....even when there are people around you don't notice them with your mind in other places while your out...So this past weekend I got this....just for me... no one else to bother me while I fish....no more standing on the bank (getting asked 20 questions by some kid) or sharing a boat with people that I take fishing....(even though I like em)

So I have that ^

and this....for when I take the grandsons...wifey...stepson to the local lil places....

and this...for when Speed and serious fishing need to take place on large bodies of water....
