Thanks TheBug . Fixing to go back out in a few minute's . I have two club's wanting me to join this year but My fishing budy died on me so I have no team mate .

Went out the other night but struck out.  Marked a bunch of bait and a few fish but couldn't get any takers.  But snapped a couple pictures of the lake since it was so calm.  My camera just doesn't do it justice though.   Hopefully the lake sets up soon and the fish get a little easier to find.   :cheers:

I forget the name of those downriggers, "I used Walker electrics", is that a stacked line on the rigger or a dipsey diver?

I just have little Scotty manual riggers.  Got a small boat and it has to pull double duty as a fishing an a family boat.   :)

The second rod is a wire diver setup.  When I am feeling ambitious I sometimes run cheaters on the rigger rods to get another spoon in the water.

Right, "Scotty's". I remember. Nice riggers. So you run a diver on wire line? What kind of diver? I used to run "slide divers" instead of dipseys cause they allow you to adjust the length of your lead from the diver. Using the smaller ones, connected to larger side planers, allowed me to troll the upper 30" way out to the side of the boat. I often did this when I found a scum/temp break on the surface that would often mean steelhead.

I caught two huge skamania in the 18lb class once on two slide cheater Pro kings running 1/2 as deep as my 60' main spoons. That or I would attach the cheater line where I'd want it with a rubber band. At the time there was no GPS but a system called LORAN. I had a great LCD fishfinder and when I found huge school of smelt or alwives I'd punch it into the LORAN and just figure 8 the school often getting 2 or 3 fish on at a time. Boy, there were times I'd come off that Lake with 150 + lbs of fish. :salute

Are you near Champlain?  We have a house just north of Ti right on the water.  Absolute fantastic fishery.  So many different species to choose from that even if one has all but disappeared there's another 2 or 3 biting.  Good times!

I am roughly 2 hours from champlain been thinkin bout goin catfishin up that way, or atleast I have been told there are some nice channel cats in there.

Everyone here is Fishing all wrong. All you need to fish is: your hand, a decent lake/stream/river, and a good sized underwater hole. You stick your hand in the hole and wait for the monster catfish to strike, wrestle it to the boat/shore, and the clean it and cook it. First catfish I ever caught I caught grabblin'. The thing weighed 28 lbs and was determined that I was going underwater with it. Grabblin is more fun than you can shake a stick at!!!
