Cant slide view up, down, left, or right
« on: July 25, 2010, 08:16:36 AM »
I have the view mapped out in my x52 to slide with the top lh hat, however when I try to slide the view it just kind of "shakes" around the original position. Anyone else having this problem?

my guess would be that you have somehow managed to map another device - probably an analog axis - to the same thing.

What I'd do is

1) FIRST, SAVE THE SETTINGS FOLDER
2) remove the files from the settings folder
3) reenter the game, and remap the views

If that "fixes it", go back to your original settings and determine what other device is mapped to the drive the views.

Found it. When I add the slider as "view forward and back" it seems to "lock" my slide view. This used to work when I played before (about 3 years ago) any idea whats going on?

Im trying to use the slider on my x52 for the zoom control (move view forward and back). When I map it in the editor I causes the "slide view left" or right, or up or down to stick

There are no analog zoom controls in the game.  Move head position is not a zoom command.

We have never had analog zoom controls.  The head movements do not have any analog commands either.  All those commands are buttons.

I have that hat mapped to "move head forward" and "move head backward" same as using the arrow keys.

So it is possible to do as Gunner would like he just didnt explain it properly. It's not zoom but it moves you closer to the gunsight.

 Hope that helps.

Your welcome gunner,I kind of thought thats what you were trying to do!

Skuzzy been so busy solving problems he likely forgot about suggesting this instead,of course calling it zoom in and it's no wonder there was some confussion.

 Glad I could help.

We have never had analog zoom controls.  The head movements do not have any analog commands either.  All those commands are buttons.

It puzzles me to read this Skuzzy. Many years ago I played around with mapping my head movements to different axes on my CH throttle quadrant (6 levers, was deciding what to use them for).

I also currently use one throttle for my zoom and have for some time.

I checked and it appears they are all still available:

The thing about mapping any head movement (say you JUST want to have a lever that moves your head up or down) is that it locks the other head directions and you lose some functionality. It's like you map up and down, but then the keys for left right front and back no longer work. This was what made me not use it (way back). I admit I don't know if that's changed or not but from what I'm reading it seems to be the same.

However, they are analog inputs you can map to an axis.

Now you really are confusing people.  You make it sound like the panel on the right pops up when you select the "Field of View" option from the analog inputs.  IT DOES NOT.

I have to admin I have no idea what the "Field of View" does, but it does not pop open another view panel with the individual views listed.
