Connection issues?
« on: July 29, 2010, 07:24:31 PM »
I am having similar problems, where I try to enter Blue and SEA I and the game begins its loading sequence, loads everything, preloads textures, which takes a little while (about 5 seconds), and then it says terrain complete. It takes about 15 seconds to display the terrain, and I then get the message "Host connection lost." I've also noticed that it depends on which map is being loaded too. Right now in blue, I can get in with the SFMA map, but Ranger's (at least, I think it's his) causes me to disconnect. The North Sea map in SEAI right now causes a disconnect too. I didn't have this problem until recently.

Any suggestions?

Ranger maps, now Enker-proof.  :aok

Sorry, no connections problems in either arena for me.  Although, had a squaddie a while back who never could get into the Blue area, it just wouldn't let him.  I don't think he ever tried to solve the problem so I can't offer any advice, it just started working one day.
LOOK EVERYBODY!  I GOT MY NAME IN LIGHTS!

Folks, play nice.

If the arena load times are too long the game will disconnect itself from the server.  That is just a guess.  It could all be resource related in some form or fashion.

A DXDIAG output might prove helpful.

Uhmm, you have a lot of stuff running on that computer and it does not have the greatest processor to start with.

A page file with over 1GB of data is a lot, even for Windows 7.  Have you shutdown Superfetch?  That process will kill your computer performance.

If you have the "SuperFetch" service running, it is probably killing your performance and possibly causing extended delays which could cause timeouts on connections.

The easiest way is to use "msconfig", but you need the "Run" menu box in the "Start" menu (right-click on the "Start" button, and select the radio button to switch to classic view).

Go to the "Services" tab of msconfig and find "Superfetch" and disable it.

With W7 you can just type Msconfig (or Services) into the little "Search programs and files" bar at the bottom of the start menu and hit enter and it'll bring it up.
In case you're like me and can't tell what Skuzz is sayin'. :P

I disabled it, as well as Nvidia's stereoscopic 3D process, as I don't think I will be using it any time soon. Any other suggestions?

AT&T DSL Basic. When downloading maps in game though, I get speeds of 56 kB/s though, which is about half of my normal speed, approx. 116 kB/s

Did disabling Superfetch help?

I am still trying to figure out if this is a delay issue or an actual connection issue.

It didn't help. Load times are still pretty long, and I'm using SEA I with the North Sea map to test this.

From start to finish, it takes 27 seconds. From when I get the message, "Terrain complete," it takes 17 seconds.

Thanks Skuzzy.
