Microphone not working in game
« on: July 23, 2010, 08:50:00 PM »
For some reason, after today's update my microphone doesn't work.  I get the channel beep, but no sound comes out.  I checked the windows setup, tested the mic offline, changed the mic, used wave in, did all the usual stuff up to and including rebooting the computer.  I also selected, tested, and could not use the mic attached to my usb camera, which also works perfectly in windows.

Have you tuned yourself?  Do you get any sound at all besides the beep?

When my mic quits I get a kind of a swishing noise when I try to transmit.

My fix is to unplug and replug in the mic and .resetv. Sometimes it takes more than one .resetv to fix.

I CHANGED MICROPHONES.  That would imply unplugging and replugging, wouldn't it?

Wow, now that is ooooollllddd:

Driver Name: smwdm.sys
         Driver Version: 5.12.0001.5246 (English)

Any chance you have thought about updating?

And are you using USB headphones? Someone else reported similar issue with Logitech USB headphones, but that system was a bit older than yours.

I just did, thanks for the suggestion.  No help, however.  I use the sound card inputs and outputs, btw.  No usb phone and mic.  Except when I tried the mic on the camera, which is USB, and doesn't work, either.

Is there no tech support from HTC?  I have had this problem for over a week, and no response.

Have you visited the Game Sounds panel of the clipboard since you updated the game?
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

You did post this in the bug reports section and it's not a game bug. Not saying...just saying.

Also, didn't see where you tested it in Windows control panel or another program.

I do not monitor the Bug forums and it is rare any response is going to be done in that forum.

See this thread for a potential solution or at least a place to start.

It could also be firewall related, but lets do the basic things first.
