LA-7 flaps.

Is there a chart somewhere that will tell me at what speed you can start dropping flaps on the La7?

And, are there different speeds at which you can use increasing amounts of flaps?

I recommend  you just go offline and try it out.

Start at ~300 and decelerate while pressing the drop flaps button and note at which speed they drop at.

I recommend you don't use flaps on an La7. Its sweet spot is well above the point you want to use split flaps. You want to stay faster and you'll out turn most things (150-160, was it?). Saw a superb film of a sortie against a P-38 that illustrated this. The P38 dropped flaps and turned inside the La7 but could never get a shot off because the La7 was doing 175 or so and flying in wider circles completely around the 38 (literally, flying circles around him). If he'd popped flaps he would have been dead, but he knew what he was doing.

hmmmm ... I have had many fun and great fights stall fighting the La-7/La-5 ... flaps in/out mixing that with throttle up/down.

It surprises the crap out of most opponents when an La-7/5 will slow down and stall fight due to them thinking that it will be trying to stay fast. Next thing they know they have been reversed and cannon rounds are ripping them apart.

I am not saying that staying fast is not good advice for the La-7 but if you fly it enough, you will learn when you can stall fight and when not to stall fight (and this is not directed to Karaya ... he has many an hour in the La-7)

Boner the LA-7 is a great plane that, not only goes insanely fast, but turns incredible, use flaps when you are slow going over the top, use them when you are stall fighting, YES the LA-7 is a great stall fighter,

most think its only capable when going 500 mph, SOOOOOOOO not true, I have whipped many a  Better turning Ac by out turning them. they don't expect that you will turn against a zero or hurri or such like that.

admittedly I don't use flaps that often in the LA, usually when I am trying to rope someone and I am at the top trying to eek out every last bit of climb.

I don't use flaps in the La7, I use only throttle and can easily turn with most of the plane set.

Flaps would be acceptable as long as you are keeping your nose up 'climbing the ladder' so to speak.  I would fly the la7 the same as an opposite torqued k4 if I ever found myself in one.

Yeah, flaps on the LA will pull out at about 150-175. I would only recommend using flaps in a slow turn fight or in the vertical. LA may be fast on the deck, but it lacks acceleration at about 11K and it can barely perform half as good. There are some planes that can catch the LA on the deck, like the 262, 163, 109-K4, typhoon/tempest, and the P-51D. One piece of advice, if your going 500+, turn very slighty as the wings will tend to rip off if you pull back to hard at that speed.

The only propeller aircraft that outruns an La7 on the deck is the Tempest.

No, I've been on for 2 1/2 years. If I was new, I'd be asking "What's the LA"?

K4 can too. Been running on the deck and they extend out slowly.
