Ok so I'll bite, based on the OP, how is a single pass head on firing on each other not a HO?

My apologies to everyone who has proposed a question or a comment. I will address them all, but due to my limited time I have to prioritize according to questions that I think reflect the silent majority that are too intimidated by the awesomeness of this suggstion to comment. Therefore, I will address Gyrene's question above second.  My first answer goes to Waystin - yes, I'm serious.

The following is my answer to Gyrene's and the silent, intimidated majority's question:

A joust is not a HO and that is what people don't understand and it is yet another injustice that this arena will help to correct.

A joust requires one to vector his/her aircraft in the direction of the opponent whilst manuvering to critically wound the opponent with his/her guns at the same time placing his/her aircraft in the path of the velocity vector of the opponent's aircraft but hopefully not placing himself on a collision course with the velocity vector of the opponent's bullets.  A HO is a manuever that places the opponents plane in the path of the attacker's plane for a killshot whilst positioning oneself in harms  way (hopefully not - but maybe) regardless of velocity vector of the opponent's plane or bullets and the collision course they may be on with the attacker's plane.

Capice?

Discuss.

Where is the line between dogfight and HO?  Just asking here.  When one person is going in a southern direction "jousting" someone coming from a northern direction.  How many degrees does the nose of the plane have to turn before they've gone too far?  45 degrees, 90 degree on either a horizontal or vertical path.  How could this be regulated?

The 30k narrow death star trench-esque walls will regulate that.  Solid point Jayhawk.

This is a contradiction:

Of this:
I propose that each pilot air start at 5k and fly directly at the other pilot.  When the two pilots meet they will fire at each other.  Only one pass will be made and the player with the least amount of damage after the joust will be the winner.  If both pilots take on critical damage then the first pilot to hit the ground loses.

It's a HO match. Simply put.

Nah, that's just a HO.

Actually, it's a duel between men. At least that's how we justified it.

No. Simply put.

There are fine distincions that I defined in my later post that I didn't go into in the original post.  While it looks like a contradiction, you have to consider the finer points to see the distinction.

Just a warning here Gyrene, if you continue to fail to see the difference between a joust and a HO I will be forced to exclude you from consideration for my CM team.

Jousting can also be a duel with your joystick.  Just throwing that out there.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?

:D It's hard to catch the same fish twice.

Anyway, seriously now, there is a difference between a HO and a joust and I'm talking about making this arena for jousting not HOing.

Omg...  do we really need to ask the difference? There is exactly zero honor in the ho.. jousting on the other hand is a centuries old custom to determine skill, poise,,bravery, and that good ole testicular fortitude. This ages old combative skill is what honor is made of! You can count me in sunbat! I look forward to meeting a worthy opponent guns blazing on this narrow prestigious battlefield!
