Ever wondered what the Hitech crew is up to?
« on: August 29, 2010, 11:42:40 AM »
In the sim I flew previously, the BBS had a neat option that let you see, grouped in one place, all the posts from the developers.  I've always missed that since coming to AH, since it was a REAL easy way to get a sense of what was going on in the sim without shuffling through all the crud on the boards.  And while the AH BBS is weeny baby wah wah when compared with the amount of garbage on the boards at the other sim (for which I'm thankful) and there's not as much of a reason to hate going to the boards, I still missed the "read three posts and you know what if anything has changed with the sim, and/or where the developers think they are heading".

So what I did was bookmark a thread started by each developer, and then I could click on their name, and click the "Show last posts" and voila - I knew what each had posted recently to the boards.

A few weeks ago, I had a brainstorm.

It's even easier to go to your own profile, edit your buddy list, and add each of the developers to it. Then you can very easily see the last posts of each developer by just going to your profile, editing your buddy list again, and clicking each one to bring up their profile, and clicking the "Show the last posts".  You don't have to bookmark threads -  or remember that Hitech is 44, Pyro is 2, and Skuzzy 1838 so you can easily edit the URL - to navigate to each ones profile so you can get the link.  It takes about 30 seconds and you see stuff you might never see - like Hitech's response to the recent changes on page 5 of a thread that has been 4 plus pages of bickering up to that point, and that you otherwise would not be likely to go back into.

Just thought I'd share in case other's here flew the other sim, and missed the same feature. Or didn't, but wanted to replicate it here any way.

sounds awfully stalkerish.   I assume the HTC crew are busy down the local strip joint until  one day the game goes  "Your version is out of date"   :x  come to the forum and check release notes.   Mumble and grumble that XXXX  plane hasn't been added.   Try out the new goodies then think oh well at least they are improving the game.

Up my spitfire Mk IX  and go shoot up some red guys  with a shrug of the shoulder.     :)

Plus I like surprises.

{Shrug}  What you call stalking, I call simply staying informed.

Probably wouldnt go over well with any ex-girlfriends though.

I don't know why, but when I read the topic, I thought this would be about them installing live video feed of them working in the office 24 hours a day. I think that's a good idea too LOL

:huh Well, hypothetically at least, I doubt the ex-girlfriend thing is very likely....  Most of us would have to do something about the wife, and probably the kids, then find someone who'd want to be with us and that played AH (or at least posted on the boards), then wouldn't want to be with us (this is the easiest part, once you're here, you're golden - it's getting the prerequisites out'a the way that's gonna be tough!!).

Since I think the handful of women that play AH and post on the boards are probably already "situated", you're working pretty long odds to begin with.  :)

So Semp, what you're saying is that even you don't want to be your friend?   :neener:

Why don't we just install cameras in their office so we can always see if they are working or just hanging out drinking. Maybe then we can pay a guy to stand around with a cattle prod and give em a little jolt when they start slacking off.   :lol

Camera's no no no no no no we don't want to see Skuzzy mooning the camera, we don't want to see HiTech walking around his office in his boxer's on a hot afternoon. We don't want to see Pyro playing with matches all day.
But Carrie now there's a thought, we can have a camera at her workstation only :)  :D I just love her voice its so cute and soothing :)

I can just see someone saying, "Damnit dale, how long does it take you guys to decide what need doing? Get off your bellybutton and make us the *item*."

Then we see development grind to a halt while the HTC staff cleans up the mess the thread caused.
