No idea, personally I find its a waste to go buy these 800 dollar phones that are mini computers, all I need is text and phone and I am good.  Plus its lik 80 bucks a month cause gotta pay for internet and all that.

Are you asking a serious question, like what separates an android phone from all other cell phones, or is it a rhetorical question?

Droids are WAYYYYY better than iPhones.

Ive got an iPhone, my mom has a droid. These are the facts.

Like I said, I kinda find it a waste of money, spend that much on a phone and the monthly payments, you could get a normal phone and buy something better.

You don't have the Cult of Jobs watching where you go, what you buy, and where you surf (and no I am not joking). (As well as deciding what type of apps you can use or media you should be watching)

Android is the operating system.. Not to be confused with the Motorola Droid..

I just recently got a Samsung Vibrant and it's great so far. Not as many apps yet on the android platform as the iphone, but the apps aren't subject to Apple's istore ban stick.. I pretty much didnt get an iphone because I dont agree that if something doesnt appease Apple, they give the developer the shaft.

AT&T's plans are crap and they it's just way over hyped IMO. I personally see no use for the iphone, and my girlfriend (an iphone user) wants to ditch the iphone for a Vibrant now..  :aok

I would find it so pointless to get an Iphone over all the others because of one reason.  They come out with a new Iphone like every 6 months lol.  Go spend 600 bucks on one, then replace it half a year later.

Yeah, you have to make the decision if you want to spend the extra money for a device (hard to just call it a phone) with multiple capabilities.  I have thus far only paid for a single app for my android software, all the free software has offered a lot of flexibility to customize and personalize my programs.

I use my phone as a scheduler/planner, get updates on craigslist items I'm watching, jump onto the local scanner radio at a moments notice, quickly locate the name and artist of a song just by letting my phone listen to it, get personal and school e-mails wherever I'm at, check stocks, get my voicemails transcribed so I can read them silently instead of listening to them, watch some TV shows, shop or compare prices, use the GPS to find a location, or just go geocacheing (girlfriend likes it, I'm not a fan), use the E6B or link to the AH flight models on occasion while flying, mess with the neighbor's dogs with my dog whistle, use the bubble level to check something, use the compass to find my way around, it's one of my morning alarms, play games, text, and... oh right, call people!

I use the T-mobile mytouch, bought it for ~$100 when I upgraded my phone.  No regrets, it's fun, and can be a great tool to have around.

I've got the Vibrant too, and love it. In fact, I'm writing this from it. The new swype thing is pretty cool too, and is actually easier once you get used to it.

Its a serious question. I see the hype everywhere on TV but yet is it really worth it. I have a HTC Tilt that I changed from that to just a normal phone due to the Tilt is too expensive a phone to take with me to work and the environment I work in. I havent used my Tilt for over a year now

I responded with everything I use my android phone for up above.  Like I mentioned, there are a lot of advantages to having a device like that, but you pay for it with the data plan.

First off, the Droid is the name of a phone Verizon wireless released.  It is kind of a cheap way of confusing people into buying their device IMO.  The android operating system and the iPhone are comparable products.  A huge advantage of the android is the many phones carried by many providers, you are not limited to one phone from one provider.  Personally, I've been very happy with my service provider (t-mobile) so I was happy to get a phone with the android OS (my-touch by google).

I don't think the iPhone is crap or anything, but a large part of it's hype is just that, hype.  It is popular to have apple products, especially on college campuses.  An mp3 player isn't cool, you have to have an iPod for 3 times as much.  If you want to be popular, you have to have your Ipod, apple laptop, North Face coat, colorful plastic sunglasses that probably cost them $100, well I'm getting off the point.  Although apple makes some good products, I find myself as almost an anti-fanboi, where apple products immediately get a downgrade because they are the cool thing to do.

Android is still a few years younger than the iPhone, and given the limitations by apple (one phone, one provider), I see the android OS growing quickly in the future.
