Actually 96delta, most of were in ta 152's. Seemed only right that we all up in german rides to fight the advancing allies  I myself only landed 2 kills. 75% and a drop tank and drop tank and i still ran out of gas tryin to get to you all. P-47 M's just wouldnt let up though. I myself had to bob and weave from top to bottom through 1000 feet of boxed up bombers while one was chasin me. I'm surprised i never collided. It was fun though. KN and friends will definitely be there next month for the next one. :salute salute allied dweebs

Ya'know Jonah, one of the things I was most worried about
(aside from not getting enough bomber pilots) was whether
pilots would opt to fly in the P-47 group as in the past
those slots have been hard to fill.

Imagine my surprise when the 'Jug" slots filled to
capacity quickly, in fact, before any of the other
fighter slots.

That was a bit of a welcome but unexpected surprise.
By all accounts, the Jugs didn't disappoint!   :salute

Salute  :salute  96Delta, Hightone (My Squadron leader for the P-51 escorts) and all those who made it a great event.

The only problem was our squadron being based farther from the target than the bombers. We should have flown to a frontline base and refueled for the flight.
We burnt through both our drop tanks before seeing any real opposition. We stayed with the lead bomber group and almost compressed chasing 190's as they dove away but stayed on point to protect our bombers. When I heard that was the last wave of enemy fighters and bombers opened doors over the target I headed for the nearest base that was still three sectors away. Many pilots had to ditch in the sea on the way back including Hightone. Conserving fuel I counted down the gallons and set a glide slope managing to reach the shore of a friendly Island. My fuel ran out and knowing I could not reach the runway of the nearby field I searched for a place to touch down. The road leading into a town was my only hope. I set her down gently on the road with no damage except the bullet holes from many encounters with the 190's. A passing jeep picked me up and drove me back to base as I wondered the fate of my comrades.
I owe my life to that rugged 51.  :D

Any screen shots from last night?  I was in the vicinity but didn't see the mission, what can I say I'm a sucker for a low alt furball. :)

I'm hoping to get some time tonight to go through my film and post a photo diary.

Bombers were formed up nicely  the few stragglers got picked off. The escorts did very well. I was chased down and away by 2 p-47ms but they made the ultimate sacrifice for the bombers.
Was really fun though :salute

96Delta, do you mind if we make this a regular thing? We had a good turnout for defenders, being assisted by the 125th Spartans, Kamandos Nowotony, and 582nd Kokutai, along with pilots of various groups. We were a little hampered by organization, but thats something we can work to improve on.

:D It is a regular thing, every month there should be a MoM Mission, Delta leads the Rook MoM and I lead the Bishop MoM, no Knight MoM yet (untill someone starts it). By the way I have some more pic from 96Delta's wing.

I have the full video of all 59 min of the mission. Ill post more pics if people want.

Yes, I know (mission of the month). I'm asking if it would be fine if I were to organize defenders every month. I'll try to cull out the dweebs that would take a P-51, or a P-47 (no offense BAR), but I can't guarantee anything.

Currently, we are Knit, but we cycle through the countries. Not sure how long we're in rotation with the knits, it may be 8 months, it may be 3 weeks.

Our squad has been organizing and participating in intercept and escort missions on TT lately.  We have a couple of guys that are really good at mission planning, and we always fly knights.  I will run it past the guys and see if there is any interest in planning something monthly.  I will either post a response here, or one of them will. <S>

I think that would be really cool, the Knights need a MoM Event. If you guys need any help just ask, we can also send you some graphics for ads and stuff.

MonkGF Debrief, Knight Interceptor Force

Joined the official intercept mission, grabbing a 109-K4. Take off was sweet:

Unfortunately while trying to form up with the spread out interceptors, an enemy CV tried to take potshots at us:

Heading in I completely missed the first wave of buffs flying by underneath. Yes, that's just the FIRST wave:

Ah, there are some targets!

"Paging Lusche, paging Lusche. Is there a Mr. Lusche in the house?". Not that I really care, I was up there as well, and nothing to do about it until AH2 starts dealing better with crew freezing and oxygen failure and stuff, but there WERE escorts up near 40k:

Ah, an escort to try and kill!

No, buffs are the number one target, leave the escorts alone, they can't hit the target!

Ooooo, shiny!

No no no no no, kill the buffs, stupid!

Now I've managed to pick myself up a couple of trailers. Had a total of 2 38s try for me at long range, and one P-51 came flying through at one point and pinged me but overshot:

Finally picked out my target as I'm sideslipping trying to throw off the aim of the guys trying to get me. Tracers were flying past here off and on for like 30 seconds. And of course all my target indecision means I'm co-alt with everybody and now stuck with the dangerous six approach to the buffs rather than the slashing diving attack I could have started with. Or I just could have stuck with trying to pick off escorts. But hey, it's only a virtual life:

Trailers are gone, now its just me and OddCAF:

Set the lead plane on fire:

Woops, no ammo, blood over the canopy, leaking oil, time to skeedaddle:

And after my plane starts a graceful dive turn to the right, it's time to abandon ship:

This was a lot of fun, I'll be looking for future MoMs to get involved in.
