Defense in Mossie

Yes I know alt and speed are the best defense, but tooling around in offline mode, I discovered that once you are at a good speed (~300+) in formation, you can pull a full turn, and turn full around and even get on your own drone's 6 o'clock position through turning, and not lose the drones. Basically, it's a HIGHLY manuverable formation and if you do encounter someone who set up a perfect intercept run, this is probably your best bet.

Also, tried some other things as well that worked.

P.S. I tested everything with 50% fuel and full 5000 lb load out at ~7.5k

I would still stick to alt and speed, even if you do manuver onto there six then what?  I do a loop and shoot you when you are slow from all the manuvering you did? it was a good thought, but I cant see this defense tactic in the mossie ever being usefull at the alt you tested at

I fly her lone gunman.  Keep your moves short, keep your alt, keep your E.  I did see those drones stick to the enemy I was trying to nail, on the deck, in a K4 though.

I would NOT fly her anywhere below 15k, and the only reason I say 15k is cause that was that alt kvuo75 tried to keel me at.  Quite honestly, 20k is where I call the hard deck now. 

BTW.... I just flew the same MossieB, single "sortie" for 24 hours with few enemy contacts.

If you're in a position where someone is that close, you've already lost. At that point, your best bet is good old fashioned dumb luck.

In a Mossie, your best defense is a damned good offense.  The Mossi can out turn a good amount of aircraft, but it has such poor acceleration (unless u can nose down and use WEP) that once you've used a tight turn to shake your trailer you has best be doing everything in your power to get as much E back as you can.

The quad 20mm's are you best defense: make sure they are pointing at your enemy as much as possible.

I have found that flying the Mossie like I do in the 38, I have had quite a bit of success with it. Trick is to stay skinny in the fight. If you can do that, you shouldn't have too much trouble mixing it up in the furballs.

As you can see, the combination of speed and agility gives the Mossie a lot of different options to get out of an engagement unharmed, just dont fly it like a bomber,
meaning leave your drones home, and do some ACM when needed.

If you'd been in a Mossie VI that P-47D-25 wouldn't have had a prayer.  Even if you had been out of the 20mm ammo.
