No wonder high school football sucks up in the Northeast...your schools administrators and coaches are a bunch of candy arse, fools. Down in REAL football playing parts of the United States of America we call these types of games an opportunity to show how much of a bad bellybutton you are when you get beat down but still jump right back up and give 'em your best shot AGAIN AND AGAIN! Even if you do get beat...Oh and I bet these players are from the types of families that "run" our country these days. Bunch of P$%^&*&!

Meh, considering the team in question is fielding three linemen at 300, 335 and 350 lbs, plus five members of the team that are actively being D1 recruited...  They actually offered to play the game "at half speed" so no one would get hurt..... amazing.

Seriously, what's the point?  You might as well let your 16-17 year old play against the Ohio State squad.  And get completely demoralized.

The average high school team doesn't play against college teams, and this Lawrence Academy is, for all intents and purposes, a college squad right now.  Hell, it might even stick with a D2 or 3 squad in a game, from the little background research I did in 5 mins.  Last year they won every game, outscoring their opponents by 390 to 71.

Sometimes discretion really is the better part of valor, no matter how much chest thumping you wish to put behind it.  I'm all for the competition aspect, but when they're putting their JV players on the field, after scoring 37 in the first quarter......(easily searched)  AND going on to win 57-0.... somethings gotta be done about that league.

You shoulda seen some of the kids on my highschools team (years ago).  We had one guy named Zac, no exaggeration he was 7 foot 2 and over 360lbs.  We had two twins that were 6 foot 5 and around 300.  Freaking walls.

Well that is a first.

That stuff never happens in CT and we field D1 kids every year.

Back when I was still playing high school I had to play against several D1 players including All-American tight end Aaron Hernandez who is now on the Patriots, a RB on the Ravens, a WR who holds the state records for receiving and currently plays at Rutgers, LBs and linemen that found there ways into D1 schools including Temple, UConn, and BC.

Hell I remember playing against a freshmen who was 6'6" and 380 lbs in high school.  Honestly, you play football to play.  Have to have some pride.

My school wasnt big and we only had 13 play varsity and still went up against these schools who had more than 50+ on their varsity team.

Rhode Island still never beats CT in the governors cup fielding usually the best players in the summer against each other.

There has to be a line between pride and safety, and you can't really expect high school kids to clearly make that line.  Don't get me wrong, I'm usually the first one telling people to buck up and deal with it or tough it out.  However, sometimes, if your smart, you have to put your ego away and know when to stop.  I imagine that's especially hard for a coach who probably would be held responsible for any major injuries suffered by his players.  Shoot, if one of his kids had broken a leg, his parents probably would have sued the school.

It's nearly impossible to sue a public school.

We had a kid a couple years ago in football who forgot his helmet. Naturally, the coach put him in as a center to "Teach him a lesson" He got a concussion, and his parents tried to sue the school. Needless to say, that the coach was fired, but still.

For the people saying that size difference isn't that big of a deal, it isn't, when you know how to play smart and efficiently and know how to not get hurt.

It basically comes down to player skill, when I played nose guard, I was basically the smallest lineman on both sides of the ball, but in one game I was able to get 2 sacks in one drive before giving the QB a concussion. If you didn't notice, the team that forfeited did not win a single game last year, and they were going against a very large built team for which it was normal to thrash the other team score wise.

IMO, the coach was extremely smart in making sure his kids didn't get hurt. If i was in his position, I would have probably considered that option as well.
