Finnish Model M39 (1940 refurb year)
Finnish M39 with a nice tigerstripe pattern (1940 refurb year)

U know a story tells that when they started scrapping those rifles the guys who run the weapons depot had a handpicked lot that had better tolerances than "standard" rifles which they saved for the last and a lot of these were sold abroad, mostly to US, but the rest got scrapped. I hope you have one or two of those gems.

I believe the Swiss are allowed to keep their military arms after they leave service?  Great for national defense I'm sure :).

Ye every swiss soldier keeps his rifle at home. After finishing your service you can decide to keep it but they take out the full auto and triple shot setting.

We used to have a sealed container with 50 live rounds too(for use in war time only, to make it to the nearest base) but they discontinued this.

Details on the M44 please.

I will post a updated pic of my collection, I've added a few since the last time I posted my collection.

Sorry for the late reply, I missed it.

The M44 is of 1945 vintage. It was purchased by my wife at a pawnshop for $180, it was a Christmas gift last year.

Functionally the gun is in good shape. However the "restoration artist" who had it before me removed ALL the bluing on the exposed metal. Judging by the depth of the scratches, he used 100 grit sand paper. The stock received a similar "treatment".

The bore and rifling is in good shape and it has not been counter-bored. At 75 yards I've managed 3 inch groups off a sand-bag rest.
Currently flying as "Ruger"
