Not to pick nits here, but you're only doing it for ONE plane - the other two are on a tether and you don't control them; they just do what you do.  I still say this wish is not necessary.  If you want to play a flying game, then by all means fly in that flying game.

But by your logic then we should remove ALL auto pilots from the game.

Thank you for people answer. m(_ _)m

I know it and use that there are three automatic flights for AH.
I pair with Ahiru which already came from FA and bomb it in two formation.

The reason why I demanded addition of "the follow" is that much Japanese FA players want you to play AH alone.
Even if it was easy if I played while contacting other players, for the Japanese player who used the bomber by FA, "the follow" was one of the important functions.

To Bruv119
Stelux does not yet play AH. It tempts him into AH sometimes, but should play race games such as the F1 now.

Not at all.  The autopilots we have now are little more than a bungie cord to keep the stick in a certain position to maintain flight.  Sure, there is a little movement to keep it level or a steady speed, but that's nothing compared to what is being asked for here - an autopilot that will basically slave your formation to someone else's controls.

Actually this was asked for at the Convention.

First Hitech got a very puzzled look on his face.
Then I explained what the problem was, and why we wanted this.
(CO daddog has terminal case of means turn left, says turn right)

HT (Along with the rest of the con goers) ended up rolling on the floor.

Final words on the subject were something like.

(If gameid = Daddog) then ?????????????? (Ht laughing so loud he wasn't coherent)

In real life minor tweaks to the controls, minor throttle changes allowed large formations to be built, stacked up vertical, etc on the way to target.

In AH we have a rather large obstacle to overcome, lag, and it is not the same for everyone. So true formation flying is virtually impossible. This would let a squadron put together a nice large formation that would be tight.

I doubt HT would actually coad this, because of possible long term large changes in gameplay.
But that is his decision to make.
This would be one small incentive to get more bombers flying in large groups hitting strategic targets.
And instead of the pilots having to sweat bullets flying manually all the way to the target just to stay inside of 2k. They could man the guns instead.

I flew SFO with the 56th some years back. We flew escort and bomber missions. I've flown hours with up to 30 other boxes. We all did fine back then because our squad practiced formation flying as a defensive tactic duirng P47 sweeps in the MA. You have all the tools to setup a formation and keep the bombers within 2k of each other and take potty breaks or man guns. You tighten up your formation about 10 minutes before the IP. Heck we used to do it with Betty and her Killiminati squad with no practice together. When did flying bombers in formation get harder. In all these years no patches readme had a Love Note from HiTech saying:

In this release I have decided keeping bombers in formations is too easy. You are DOOMED and will never be able to go potty or surf the WEB during your flights to your targets again.

Love HiTech.........

This game gets any easier we might as well program BOTS and set them loose against each other while we watch TV. Didn't some internet first person shooter reach the point just before it went belly up that all the players were just programed cheats and hacks running on auto kill?

Ok actually I'll admit a function that automatically keeps everyone together or following a single person is a bit much. I tend to lead a lot of formations in scenarios and I'll usually have someone who has trouble keeping formation which is why I was supporting this.

In hindsight when I'm leading a formation and I look back and see all of my guys tightly formed up without any help at all is truly a rewarding experience.
