excellent research lyric!

The front quarter shallow belly attack is my usual favourite angle of attack.  Build up as much speed as possible then zoom past.  Only the really good gunners can make a shot and change positions quick enough to have a pop out the back once you've gone past.

I'm looking forward to the challenge  :)
Thank you. You can't go wrong with a Kenn C Rust book. :aok

Just so we are all well prepared.    :t

I think something with 30mm like a 262 ,  A8,  110G,  TA152.   Devastating firepower is needed for sure.   Target the usual areas of weakness.  Should fall to the ground just the same.

Discuss/

I'd say P47N or M would be the best.  30mms are overrated against bombers.

That was pretty much what the P-47N was invented for. However the B-29s struggled to hit their targets at high altitude in daylight because of the very high wind speeds encountered over Japan. So a change of tactics was introduced. The B-29s' turrets were stripped out and they were loaded up with incendiary bombs. These were dropped at low altitude at night over mainly wooden Japanese cities to devastating effect. This had the secondary benefit of being a lot kinder on the engines, which had to work hard to get up to alt for the daylight raids.

The escort fighters were switched to sweeps and ground attack sorties.

Not sure why the Ta 152 is always mentioned, it is, in this game at least, in my opinion, a pretty poor interceptor, what with its glass nose and all.

Not entirely sure an AH B-29 ought to have a 20mm in the tail. In RL they were usually removed as they were so unreliable.

Then we should also account for the glass landing gear and engine problems on the Ki-84 and N1K2, the unreliable 20mm on the F4U-1C, and dozens of other mechanical failures.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

The point about having a B-29 without a tail 20mm is that the cannon was often removed in service, not that it was unreliable.
