Updated Troops.
« on: November 11, 2010, 07:20:07 PM »
Would like the paratroopers to be updated. I understand that it isn't going to change game play, but I think it would have an impact for those who make movies. Think about it, what would look better, the stack of cardboard boxes we have right now that siege a town with just pistols, or actual troops? Animation doesn't need to be real flashy but would like a cosmetic touchup to them.

Hell, for fun, you could even put faces from the developers on them.

...On second thought, I prefer to sleep at night.  :lol

It would be really neat of the troops would match the vehicle in which they are being deployed from.  For example, the LVT2 could have US Marines, the M3 could have US (or Soviet) infantry, the C47 could have British paras, the Sdkfz 251 German infantry; and the jeep a few khaki clad British LRRP commandos from North Africa.

Anything would be better than the pilots posing as infantry we have now.   :)

What about US paras? also, I know the Japanese had a DC-3, did they use it for airborne ops?

I like the idea. Maybe we can just have one model of trooper, but a few player-made skins for them?

I've always thought it was kind of silly that a pilot hiding in the map room could take out a group of 10 paras.  Fun to do when you know it'll thwart a capture attempt, but silly nonetheless.

I know the Japanese had a DC-3, did they use it for airborne ops?

It was mainly used as a troop transport but not for airborne operations.  The Mitsubishi Ki.57 Type 100 was the IJAF's primary troop transport that was also their primary transport for airborne operations.
